What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Why wouldn’t you ???
It’s the little things that you have to do sometimes
Changed the standard black wing badges to match my teal colour trim sprayed by myself well pleased.
Black side indicators
And of course black high level stop lights …
Plus a little winter wash

Picture of a picture - owned this for about a year in the early 00's. The only factory painted mercury grey series 1 rs turbo. Bought it already restored so take no credit for it, realised I couldn't look after it as well as it needed so sold it on. I keep looking it up every now and again, it's not confirmed if it's still in one piece really but if someone still has it locked away I'm sure it will be worth a small fortune!

Haha - I thought I was still in the "show is your old cars" thread - apologies for that!!

Installed a hood solar panel

And experimented with gasstruts on the back door. 200kn force struts are maybe a bit to much. Going to test 150kn to see the difference

Do I need to pay protection money to the Hood? It looks good, I guess it would not fail any safety regulation. It might if left on pose as a risk for theft? How does it adhere to the Hood pleas don't suggest hand cuffs? :D

Finally installed the new DC DC charger, shunt and batteries I bought in the Renogy Black Friday sale last year.

All works great but I found the 16mm2 cable I bought seems more like 10mm2 with thicker insulation (and 16mm2 printed on it). Annoyed with myself for using Amazon again for wire :(

Now I’ve proven out the test fit and all the wiring lengths I think I’ll buy thicker cable from 12v planet and make up new ones.

I’ve upgraded from 100ah AGM that came in the van to 200ah lithium. Also upgraded from a 20amp C-TEK D250SE to a 40amp Renogy.

These Renogy core mini batteries only just fit under the drivers seat without fouling the seat adjuster mechanisms. I have a lowered (jennings) seat base and then adapters for car seats (I use Tiguan R seats) so everything is a bit unique and hard to rely on what other folks have done.
