What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

How are you finding it? Very close to pressIng accept on a quote from them
What set up are you going for? If it is anything that slides out the van on big runners, think about how you will access things which are stored at the back of the drawer when it is chucking it down with rain.

Only had one weekend away in it so far but happy that we could store everything we needed in the units.

Construction of the units is great and they are all solid, look good and the cushions are comfy to sleep on. Very happy with their customer service and after sale support. It was built and delivered exactly when they said it would be.

Thanks for the fast reply. The wet access was some thing that concerned us. We were looking at the schiehalion, Clachan combo to have bench seat and a full width long bed.

Finally finished it
Custom designed/made cabinet to hide electrics & a bit of storage.

No one does anything like this (I could find or was too busy) for a Transporter converted to Velle seating with custom side panels/Vanshades so had to do it myself

That looks exceptional!

I love the interior of my Caravelle in many ways but the forum constantly shows me how many useful "spaces" it means I can't exploit. If someone did this to replace the Caravelle trim I'd very seriously consider it, but I guess the market would be quite small.

That my friend is awesome!!

I have been thinking of doing something similar to make use of the space, how to you find it space wise sitting next to it? May have to shamelessly copy the idea.....

Also I really like the floor is it OEM, who did it for you?

Space wise it is tight, comfortable for my skinny 15yr old daughter who normally resides there, but a large adult would maybe feel pushed across a bit. She loves it as her phone or drink resides on there...Argh:cautious:

Armrest works fine & seat slides past it to behind the drivers seat (one of the major aims I had) as I normally only have 2 or 3 swivel single seats in. The conversion is a 5 seater not 7 (no 3 seat rear bench, 3 rear singles, front captains) as there is a big dog crate that lives on the rear N/S for 2 big-ish retrievers.

Rails/floor are s/h OEM multivan which 8Ball Campers did for me in East Yorkshire VW Camper Conversions | VW T6.1, T6 & T5 Camper Van Conversions

The current/ongoing issue is sourcing the parts, as they are ££££ & like 'rocking horse poo'

Installed bike Rack model 1 on my electric tailgate (coming off my 2016 van). Vw advise to install model 2 not 1. However I do not understand why. Enough clearance everywhere. Seats right as it should. If anybody know better please advise…

Swapped out the bottom door roller with a collapsed bearing for a shiny new one. Not genuine, but a Febi Bilstein which seems really good quality and same size rollers etc.IMG_5055.jpeg
Took about 10 minutes to do. Took me longer to find my spline bits than to do the actual swap.
Top tip, the bracket is on slotted fittings so draw round the 2 bolts with a sharpi or similar before removing them. You can clearly see the pen circle on the door arm in the pic.

Interesting as a rear rack is something we may consider on our electric tailgate and I had wondered too.

Does your tailgate have the pressure sensitive close - where you pull down and it will start closing without having to press the switch?

That's the only thing I can think of, that the fitting is fine but the likely all up weight, while it might lift it, might be enough to false trigger the close unexpectedly while you were under it.

I'm loving that blue on the new van though, you can never really choose unless you buy new but that's close to what I would have in an ideal world (sorry Team Indium Gray!)

No clue what you are talking about .
What s the sensitive close? And why would you not press the switch?
However I had it open all the afternoon and it didn’t close but itself.
Ravenna Blue very nice indeed, not my first choice if I had the chance to buy it new… :)

On our 6.1 power tailgate if you pull it down, it starts the power close, without touching any switch.

I really wish it didn't given the rear kitchen. But that's a question for another thread. I've seen a post around from someone else with the same concern with a tailgate tent.

was your sliding door catching on the rear arch?

I went out to double check, and hey! The van has got the sensitive close! and I can confirm the tailgate has been open all the afternoon withouth closing itself due to the weight of the bike rack. Possibly 15kg? not much.

No, the bottom roller bearing disintegrated so the triangular metal piece of the runner was sat on the metal of the van with the roller no longer present. To open the door without lifting would have caused metal on metal - which it did once and put a small scrape in the metal base of the van before I realised. If that makes sense.
