What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

@Bitterandtwisted, @middle-englander - what type of grease would you guys recommend?

Sorry I couldn't actually tell you, my glamorous assistant (my old man) did the greasing of said bolts while I was swearing under the van fitting the RIB bracket.
It wouldn't have been anything special and was likely 30 odd years old! There's probably something more suitable these days that somebody can advise on.

I just chucked some brake grease on the threads as it was to hand in my garage. Probably not the proper application but the bolts move freely now. I have RAC cover…the quoted 4 hrs to get to me so had to persevere with the drama unfortunately. Plus we were in a part of Birmingham you really don’t want to be stuck in if you want to retain your wallet / watch / phone

Yet Birmingum is such a lovable friendly place filled with kind generous warm hearted folk, not a single nutter to be found! Honest Guv!

I did my spare wheel carrier bolts with copper grease when I fitted the Spare Safe and was glad of it when I needed the spare post pothole (well apart from the mess, had to sacrifice a tea towel from the kitchen pod to rest them on)

Just don't be tempted to grease the actual wheel bolts, they may be a pain to remove but those are bolts you really really want to stay where they are 99.9% of the time...

That's what my Greenflag membership is for! Proper jack and 2 spare booted up wheels in the garage, Goo onboard. Not good if you're abroad granted!
I agree, Greenflag came to the rescue when I couldn't get the wheel off - took them two days to do it, but that was OK because we were staying on the caravan site anyway. Also rescued me in Belfast when the Landcruiser locks went faulty causing the keys to be locked in. Spares in Preston - no damage caused.

I was with the AA for 28 years with the price rising each year, forced me to look elsewhere.
GF came to my rescue when my beloved put petrol in my last diesel car (bless her) GF sent the Fuel Doctor out to siphon the wrong fuel and get me going again as part of the membership. Not covered with AA! I'd certainly recommend them. 3 years later the price has come down.
