What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Repaired the Lin bus cable finally from battery to alternator. It had 2 breakages in the wire so now welded joins together and now have start/stop error message GONE plus battery charging correctly (hopefully no more red battery warning lights)

Just want to say I'm so glad I'm part of this forum as without it I would have probably took it to a garage to be diagnosed and fixed, but all it's cost me is £11 soldering iron and a £4 piece of cable plus about an hour of my time.

I'm almost certain I need to do this. Is the job doable on axle stands on driveway? Any tips on finding the loom underneath? What gauge cable does it need?

It's actually quite a simple job.
Done mine on ramps so easily accessable.
Loom is in a black plastic trunking right at the bottom of the engine so very easy to find.
It will be the yellow/green cable (thinnest one there) and the breaks will be quite asy to find by just simple inspecting and feeling for it)

Hope this helps

This is the cable I used

I used Über bus.
It all feels very solid.
I went for them rather than a rack with attachments because of the ladder.

I got some uprated struts off THQ and they're only just strong enough.
It could be a different story once I've added the plywood panel on the inside..

Feel free to move this post if necessary.

Has any bright spark come up with a way to fix oem hub caps to aftermarket longer bolts?
They protrude less than oem so there's nothing for the cover to grab hold of

Full service. Alas paid someone else to do it as I have neither the skill, space or ability to get underneath safely. ‘Advisory’ from chap who did work suggested new tyres next year. Will be looking for Michelin cross climates I think

My general grabber AT3s have been good.
After nearly a year, they still look new.

I needed a tyre with the snowing mountain stamp which is mandatory in Nordic countries for half the year.

The oem hub cap looks good on that wheel.

However, I'm fitting 10mm rear and 5mm front spacers and the longer bolts don't like the hub caps!
I think I'll have to keep it if this way, without the caps, and get the black paint out

Presume these are just stock wheels? Presume stock size too, I don’t need to change anything for look/ function. So will just replace tyres. Saw there was a decent online deal flagged somewhere on this forum not so long ago.

You've got a bit of a saggy bottom - so they'll be tight.
If you find you're too close to the wheel arch - going over bumps and rubbing, just throw some uprated springs in there.

I'm not familiar with posh vans. Mine's ex-RAC, so it's been a lot of work, but it's a T32, so no worries about rubbing.

Yeah, it’s a t28 with full camper set up. I briefly looked into what I’d need to do to sort, I think the advice given in the end was to drop the front to balance it out. I think, but life stuff distracted me away

It just depends on what you like, I suppose.

I like the height of mine. I intend to fix a winch at the front too - I would hate to miss some beautiful parking spots because I can't get there!

I guess it's turning into a Swamper

Dropped it off for a service under the all in plan.

Got an upgrade downgrade, hmm... Sidegrade? as a replacement for the day...

Not sure I could drive a 5 speed (guessing 102tdi) 6.1 daily. No room for my feet, my clutch foot rubs on the hump by the pedal when changing gear, there's nowhere to put my phone, no adaptive cruise control, the engine is a noisy bugger too! Rides ok on the diddly 16" wheels with nothing in the back, though!

But the steering will be betterer, and not many of us have hubcaps as good as those! #special...
