What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Finally fitted a couple of bits that have been taking up space in my hallway. Pair of THQ trapezium sidebars in gloss black and also body coloured rear barn door spoiler(s). Feels.good to clear a bit of room. Still have tons to do but might wait for a nicer day. Most of what is next needs the front bumper to come off and gonna be difficult enough on my own, so on a day where weather is a bit crap it'll probably be more pain than it's worth.

Reversing light.

Twenty20 Impact Canbus LED W16W

Confused however, the handbook says P21W but I had happened to also order a W16W for the car at the same time. Now I have a P21W I can't use???

Anyway, fitted.

Didn't work (of course!) so removed, turned 180° and now it works. Looks much whiter and brighter. No bulb monitoring lights either.

And what I didn't realise, until I was checking them, is that this Highline has reversing lights on both sides. At least I know which bulb to get!

Those Twenty20’s are brilliant (pun intended!) I can actually see when reversing at night now

Does it improve your vision noticeably when reversing at night.

It's not dark yet, I'll let you know!

I try and line up the van at a certain point, to maximise the space for the window cleaners, while being far enough from the outer wall not to bash it with the passenger door.

I have painted light-coloured guidelines on the back wall, but they are still difficult to see in the dark.

Well it will be interesting to hear about the result and to learn if it remains error free. Not actually sure what mine are. Reverse lighting does appear to be an after thought by manufacturers.

Going for Black sundry items now. Grab Handles, Lighting Console etc

Ordered a Roof Console from a breakers & spent a decent chunk of the day prepping & spraying it up, as it’s the only bit I can’t source already made in black…

Made a pretty good job of it, if I do say so myself…

Went out to the van to see about taking out my cubby hole & vent bits to spray up next (I have a W8 light fitting on the way)…

Aaaannndd yep. That’s a different Centre Console altogether

Chalk another one up to being F’d in the A by my attempts at self mods

Anyone got a part number for the one I need please??

I believe that’s from a 6.1 as that’s what mine looks like

Tiny jobs on the van today.. my ocd couldn't handle the light grey seat belt cover on the dark rear interior so swapped for black :)

@Stu007 I don't suppose you fancy selling the old seat belt cover - mine broke last summer when caught on trial-fold mattress, and noticed today my attempt to superglue has failed.

This weekend gave the van a full wash and wax ready for the roadtrip, during which I discovered another small dish shaped chip in the windscreen that I need to talk to Autoglass about, never had so many as recently.

On the upside the new Bosch wipers are doing the business stopping the highly annoying wiper judder.

On the downside 500 miles of winter roads all the efforts are buried under about 2 kilos of road grime each side
