What's my van worth??

Hi,

Nice looking van. Blue strips on the front - were these already on the van? If not did you do them yourselves- if so assume wrapped? I'm after blue but nowhere sells this colour...

Thanks
No blue strips I’m afraid think it must be the light

Think there’s a thread on here regarding n
Lol - I am genuinely colour blind - could have sworn i'd seen blue!! Obviously wishful thinking- I've looked everywhere and can't find any, ah well I'll carry on looking...
just came a cross a thread on here with people struggling with blue grill strips think they went down the wrap route

Hi all,

The contracts for my company are done. Nowt's coming in, i'm too old to be messing about anymore and the company owns my T6.

Does anyone on here have a Blacks guide or similar to give me a market value for the van so as I don't have any grief with the taxman? I'm intending to buy it from the comapny.

I've looked at eBay and it's not the best place to get an honest assessment.

Immaculate as some of you know already

I'm not too worried about the conversion it has undergone I just want raw value for it that I can add the VAT onto.

Hiya - are you looking to buy it from your company and need to demonstrate that you paid a fair market value? If so, a simple letter from your local friendly dealer stating what they’re prepared to give you for it would probably satisfy your accountant.

In this instance, doesn't it all depend on what the company accounts have written it down to? Your accountant will have claimed annual depreciation on it as expenditure against taxable income.

Right, ends up at 0 value eventually doesn’t it?
Well, it can end at “nominal” as even our dear friends in HMRC know about scrapyards! Reading between the lines, I think @Mick is looking to close his company and remove assets in a clean and compliant way.

Exactly this. The write down value of a company asset is NOT the same as a fair market value. That is what I have to pay to buy it otherwise the HMRC can be all over you.

There are numerous ways around this but all run the risk of an investigation. I've been there twice in the past and I just don't want to go there again.

I've had this dicussion with my Tax accountant and he is adamant how this has to be dealt with.

Have you tried the webuyanyvan route?

Presumably that's one way they might get an average value other than comparing the current market.

I considered it but I used them in the past then got spam from them and their dealers for a long time afterwards.

I tried to contact the dealer I bought it from but there is no answer from his offices at the moment. I will keep trying. There is no friendly dealer round here ha ha.

I know what you mean about the spamming.
Could always set up a new email account then disregard it once there's a figure quoted.

Yep but they also want your phone number and they call & text you to death

Buy me a pint and I’ll knock you up a letter for your accountant.... for a wee whiskey chaser, what value do you want me to put down?!!

not really as the company most likely will have it depreciating @ 25% straight line method , so will be almost zero at this stage, company will still want a return tho

Isn't that 25% in the first year followed by 25% of the remaining 75% in the second year and so on? So if it was £30,000 to start with, it would be £22,500 at the end of year 1, £16,875 after year 2, £12,656 after year 3...
