Where are all the VW technicians?

Phoned my preferred VW garage to have my infotainment screen booked in for replacement under warranty. The next appointment I could get was November and that is just for a diagnostic. Not sure a diagnostic is required to see that a touch screen isn’t working.
Is this kind of wait time normal or just in the west of Scotland?
 
Less and less franchised dealers for the same amount of sales and aftershaves - the end result is queues round the block.

They're duty bound to properly diagnose every fault as part of their contract. If they take a flier and replace parts without doing so and the fault doesn't go away then the dealer is saddled with the cost, and considering how slim margins are I can quite understand them wanting to do it by the book even if it is annoying.

Done mine last week, worked a treat
 
As above it is pretty straight forward to do yourself.

I'm local - down in Inverclyde and have done a couple of the touchscreens. If you need any help, give me a shout!
 
VW dont repair screens they replace completes units and those headunits are around £1500 IIRC so they always check first to make sure its not glitching or software replated

OK at £1500 to replace I know why they need to do a check. Would any individual pay that to replace that audio system?

Hi @Garyde thanks for the offer. Great to get that kind of support from a forum. I have a service coming up and will have a chat with them about the screen then. May get better response with face to face. Thanks again for the offer.
