Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Happy drive home?
Quite astonishing the difference.
Much much quieter.
My old T32 suspension was very bouncy and bangy. There was very little steering feel and it was very vague-steeering inputs had a sort of vague delay. I drove down there on the Derbyshire/Stafford A roads through the windy countryside to get a benchmark.
On the way there I was doing mid 40’s MPH because it bounces around and is crashy and vague.
Same route home, bimbling along feeling planted, looked down and I was doing 75. The difference is night and day.
Took wifey out when I got home and straight away she commented on how smooth and quiet it was. “It’s like a car now” was her first comment.
Drove up our road, which is national speed limit, over the cattle grid and up round the bends and she couldn’t believe it. She normally holds the grab handle up there and she said she didn’t need to hold the handle because it didn’t feel like we were “going to bounce off the road”
To say I’m pleased is an understatement.

That’s exactly how it was for me driving home! And SWMBO was impressed when I took her out in it! Hot only complaint was why VW don’t do that to start with. But, if they did @crsperformance would have a hole in his business!

I’ll add that my front ARB bushes were shot, which I knew, so I had them replaced with Powerflex while Steve was at it. I think that had a lot to do with how vague it felt before.

Yeah, for her to notice is amazing. She can’t tell that it looks any lower and she’s never noticed how it looked before. She knows nothing about suspension or anything and doesn’t even drive it because she can’t turn it round (despite the reverse camera).
And she was making comments without me even prompting her or suggesting what I thought.

Ah! I am in the unfortunate position where SWMBO is a secret petrol-head, knows how to drive, likes to drive and, dare I admit it, is a better driver than me.

Wifey likes to drive. We have an old (2005) S4 convertible 4.2 V8 which she loves. She’s just not got her confidence in the van yet. We only bought it in July and it’s spent most of its time sat around or having conversion work carried out.

Got another couple of months of sitting around to go yet, I fear!

Yes but find most of them outside under pot plants and dark places in sheds.
Toilets used to be little outhouses up the backyard (dunnies in oz) so thats why they were found there.View attachment 98355
When we were in Oz
My wife replied to me, what looks amazing “That massive spider”.

We got married in Oz and never saw one of those beasts.
When we were in Oz my wife swore she saw a massive hairy spider in the shower...she was right!

We DID have a resident Redback in the Dunny too..in Adelaide.

When I am grumpy, often as I am bloke, my wife starts to say I must be hangry.

I put it down to SWMBO being a feeder:oops::rolleyes:

  • Haha
Reactions: JOG
I wouldn’t worry! Even my boys call me “Fat Daddy”!
Only since the first lockdown have I been called “Fat Boy”

I blame boredom and cheap beer.
