After a brilliant drive through France (toll roads with the usual lack of traffic and no delays at all!), we crossed into Germany and the weather turned to sh1t as the traffic slowly built up to the point that you would think the autobahn system was one big jam. We stopped off at a site near Augsburg for the night and went for a walk around the local lake and sank a quick stein in the beer garden but when we got back to the pitch, I couldn't be 4rsed take any pictures as there was a biblical rain storm with thunder, lightning and the works. After another day driving in the rain and traffic, we finally pitched up in Camping Brunner in Austria which is sited right on a another large large lake. We hit the local pizzeria and then had the sad news about the queen and some nice germans on the table next to us insisted on buying us grappa and raining a glass in her memory. The site itself was alright and the facilities were all new and immaculate but the pitches were all quite small and all very, very close together.

After another day in what seemed like constant heavy rain driving from Austria through Slovenia we crossed under the mountains to Croatia and am now set up in the sunshine at Aminess Atea Camping Resort on the beach in Otok (island) Krk. First impressions are that it's very good indeed, albeit extremely busy. The sanitary facilities seem very new and top drawer. The only downside is that the first night cost us €46 but the blow was softened a bit by the rest of our stay being €25 per night with Camping Card. We've not seen many Brit cars since leaving France but there is a white with blue stripes Big Wave Campers VW quite close to us with a LS13 plate - anybody here on T6F?

Time for a swim followed by a beer methinks.
