Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Fidden Farm? Stunning.
If you walk out onto the right hand side of the island at low tide you should see seals on the little islands to the right.
We were there a couple of weeks ago.
Great thanks for the advice…
Going to spend a few days on mull
Enjoy van life beers and pizza tonight …..

Calgary beach is stunning and you can overnight in the car park to the right where the ice cream hut is., or stay on the community camp site the other side.
We stayed a night at Ardalanish Weavers with private access to Ardalanish Beach for £10.
You can also stay at the adjacent beach Uisken for £10 by paying at the little cottage.
Golden Eagles and White tailed eagles on the south side of Loch Na Keel and otters there too.

Left San Gimignano early this morning (0700). Looks like it'll be a nice day. Glorious views just 100 or so metres from where we were stopping

We commenced our drive up through Italy towards the Mont Blanc tunnel again. I said before that the Italian roads are crap. We chose to head up via Firenze/Bologna/Milano towards Turin rather than the route we took down via Genoa and Pisa. slightly longer but the roads were considerably better and it was a far better journey. We did sit in stationary traffic for around 40 mins due to a multi vehicle crash.

Nice spot for lunch near Aosta. This type of stop whilst common in France is quite rare on the Italian motorways, albeit it was quite close to the carriageway.

Back into France. The view from the French side of the MBT.

Now in a hotel in Bourg en Bresse. I think it is based on Fawlty Towers!

@Nigel G looks like a good trip. Shame to go through the mountains and not over.
Yeah, choice of 2 tunnels or a very long drive avoiding paying for a tunnel (the drive was long enough as it was) or heading over the mountains into Switzerland which was a no no for us for various reasons. We have done several routes from Switzerland/Austria into Italy before a few times and they are great but really not suitable for this trip. Last time was in a BMW Z4 with it's lid off in 2017 so a bit more fun on the bendy roads than a LWB van would be!

I hadn't realised how expensive it was going to be driving from France and then the tolls in Italy. Each way through the MBT was €52 (it would have been €64 return had I been returning within 7 days) and the tolls from there down to Tuscany was around €100 return. To do it without tolls would have taken forever, so again, not really an option for what we were doing, ie/ staying in one place and not touring.

That’s why you can’t rush such trips - getting to a destination isn’t the goal as enjoying the journey there is! (My days for living what I preach are still out of reach!!!)

True, but we had limited time as my daughter came with us and she had to be back for work.

Home (after finally picking up my converted van from VisionTech:waving:).

Do I have any pics? Hell, no!!! It's p*ssing down :( and I'm completely cream-crackered  after a very early start o_O, a 9-hour round trip  and 2 hours of being bombarded with info :notworthy:.

I'll post more tomorrow, along with lots of pics if the weather improves.
