Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Just had a couple of nights away at Waterfoot Park, Pooley Bridge. A lovely clean and quiet site. A good leg stretch up Hallin Fell with its great views. Then a walk through the wild garlic woods to eat and drink. Oh and it was scorching hot!

If anyone is doing the A303 then I can recommend Woodhenge as a bit of a break, 2 miles ish from Solstice Services.

Very small carpark of about 3 bays (2 taken up by vanlifers clearly staying for a day or two - bit cheeky) but chunk of parking along the road (as it's essentially the old road layby style of things) and lovely in the early evening sun. The younguns had a good half an hour running around to make up for quite some time on the cushions.

This was actually last weekend and you'll note I took the "wrong" vehicle for... reasons. (Don't drive the shiny van in Bath on a Bank Holiday Weekend, take the XC70 that already has plenty of patina...)

Travelling north through the Outer Hebrides, now on Harris. It’s one of the few areas of Scotland that I haven’t visited so it was a ‘must do’ for me and well worth the journey. Four ferry crossings and lots of causeways. A remarkable vista of landscape, sea and beaches.

You’re doing all my local sites I’ve never been to! I thought the field there was just for tents?
That field is for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and the vehicles are the staff/instructors supervising them. The photo was before the kids arrived and put up their tents. We used the vans to form a perimeter for our bit of the field! The site brings in portaloos and water bowsers as the kids aren't allowed to use the site facilities!

That'll be us in a month!

Should have been in a fortnight, but our annual accreditation audit is perfectly (as in badly ) timed!
