Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Taking our time getting to Skye. Booked Portree site Fri - Sun. Then over to Fortrose Mon / Weds. Back via Edinburgh/ Newcastle / East coast
Make sure you go to Chanonry point to see the dolphins when you are at Fortrose. There’s even been a couple of humpback whales seen there in the last couple of days, between Rosemarkie and Fort George.

Chanonry point was one of our first stops after Inverness while doing the NC500. You need to be there early(ish) to watch the Dolphins breakfastime! Between 8 and 9 am from memory.

Will do. That's the plan of the visit to Fortrose. I want Eagles on Skye, she wants Dolphins at Chanonry Point!
Check the tide times. It’s about an hour after low tide I think. It’s as the water comes back in the fish get channelled over a shelf in the estuary and it’s feeding time.
We’ve been a few times and always seen them. Last time they were really jumping, but a bit far over towards fort George. Take good binoculars and chairs and a flask.
It’s an easy walk round from Fortrose camp site. Don’t drive there, it’s a small car park and it’s rammed.

Arrived at Gwithian farm campsite.
Good run down, 3.5hrs travelling 201 miles covered.
27 MPG
Setting up the millennium dome in 25mph winds was somewhat testing. And I only got called a **** once which is a record.
Beach then beers. See what the new pup makes of the sea.

We're back in Moffat at my dad's place. We drove up here last Tuesday to help with some issues at home, stayed a few days and then took a break. We've had 3 nights away at Carnforth in a lodge, south of the Lakes. We travelled back upon through Keswick. If we can get things sorted here we hope to get away for a few days touring in the van whilst the forecast looks ok to see some of the coast around Dumfries and Galloway taking in Kircudbright and Portpatrick, before maybe sneaking over to Arran. the end of next week we're heading south to the T6F weekend in Bala. :)
