Got an invite down to Portsmouth to spend a day out on a Clipper Yacht with Sir Robin Knox-Johnston heading up our novice crew, so made a couple of days out of it and squeezed in a visit to Beaulieu whilst down that way. Now have new found admiration for the crews that take on the Clipper Round the World Race, proper non stop graft in some treacherous conditions.
So, I was on the M6 yesterday and switched to middle lane to overtake a Lorry and I looked to the side of me to see a Jag level pegging in the outside lane, then noticed that without signalling, he is coming over! I am not round the Lorry yet so couldn't go anywhere! Had to slam the breaks on and swerve at same time without going into the lorrys lane! Traction control kicked in and van snaked from side to side as I tried to stay in lane and avert collision! I don't know how I did it! Think the van helped me though! When I had regained full control I blasted my horn and flashed my lights and no response from the jag! He then did it to someone in the outside lane and they nearly hit the crash barrier! I couldn't beleive my eyes! He got off at my junction and I got out and told him what he had done and he just nodded! I didn't swear or anything, just merely pointed out that he needed to look first before switching lanes and that he could have killed people! He just drove off and did it again on dual carriage way! Watch out folks, they are out there!
