Which Reversing Camera?

Yep, I have done that.

I just need someone to tell me if this is the normal quality or I should take it back to the dealer please?
Sorry I haven’t replied yet. Haven’t been in the van in the light yet.

Ok. Finally got around to it. I’ve always felt it was pretty sharp, but looking at it closely I guess it isn’t really super crisp. I’m happy with it though.

Hi all,
I'm after recommendations for a company to fit an OEM reversing camera to my '65 plate VW Caravelle (tailgate).
It currently has factory parking sensors and a discovery media mib2 headunit.
I live in High Wycombe.
I've contacted Absolut5 already but they're about 1.5hrs away so wondering if anyone has any recommendations closer to High Wycombe/slough/reading/Oxford?
Thanks in advance,
Nick

I have a 2019 Caravelle Exec and I know very little about car electrics but have just fitted an OEM wired rear-view camera. Cost me under £300 including the cost of an OBDEleven Pro for coding. Unless you are completely DIY incapable or do not have a few hours to spare give it a go yourself, your 3 hour round trip to to the 'specialist' would be just about enough time for a diy fitting. Can be done on your own but a second pair of hands to pull cables and detach lining would help.

Cheers dellboy.
I booked it in with a pro as the missus didn’t want me meddling with our new toy for the sake of £200 and half a day of (my!) time.
Thx

Our new T6,1 arrived last week, I didnt know it had a reversing Cam we bought it from citygate as whatever spec they had ariving.
I would recomend not having the factory option , they have slapped the cam right in the middle of the barn doors it looks awful .
Apart from the position the image quality is cack , The ones Dav-Tec has fitted look a million times better .

Why they fit them there, Such a daft place, we install them closet to the end of the number plate light trim, we have even installed a genuine Vw one there

Yep incredible,I guess it's easy .
I had a shock when I walked around the van and spotted it .

@Pauly Hope you don't mind the tag. Saw in a few other posts that you seem to know quite a bit about the size of the crimp terminals for the BCM (J519).
I would like to retrofit an oem reversing camera to my 2018 t6 and read in the the vw instructions that they connect/pin in an additional cable to the PIN12 for the reversing signal.
Yes, I know you can probably also take the signal from the rear light, but If I already get an oem camera I'd also like to install it the oem way. :D

Would you happen to know what kind of crimp terminal I need here that fits the two cables?

cheers

Anybody with a Wolfbox camera fitted the replacement mirror bracket that saves you having to install over the existing mirror?
This

I have this mount in situ on the windscreen but the bracket doesn't fit,

I had the exact same problem yesterday. Not got a solution yet. I thought there may be some sort of adaptor but can't find anything yet.

@5harpy You are in luck my friend, I have just today fitted an adapter I found after a good couple of hours of searching! It works a treat though will need some gentle persuasion to get on, in my case a dab of fairy liquid and a VERY light tap with a rubber mallet.

Onto my next problem. A lack of foresight and forward planning means that having had the poptop done already, I now have no way to run the cable with the existing wires where they come through the tailgate.

I've fixed the rear camera internally for now but has anybody got any bright ideas on how I can route this cable from the outside?

Have a go at running it internally. I was kicking myself for not running the cable prior to conversion, but managed to run it back without too much trouble.

@RunDSG Do you mean running it from the gromit in the tailgate all the way to the cab headliner without actually having access to it? I've read that the run from the gromit just into the back of the van is bad enough!
