Windows Opening Themselves

This is quite common on T5s but usually due to age related problems (the van, not the owner). Wouldn't expect the usual faults on vans this young.

Hoping it was down to keys in my wife's handbag but not convinced. Will monitor for now but a little nervous as the van is going to be home alone over Christmas. Have just ordered a blackout screen to attach and provide a bit of protection whilst we are away just in case.

Don't want to be anti social, but would anyone mind if I just nipped out and vacc'd the fun bus?
It's how you go about trying to convince the uninitiated/ uneducated why you also need to do the carpet on the walls and roof!

.......and the top of the dash.....the floor mats.......the facia........the upholstery......the top of the door cards.........ooooooh, and I almost forgot, the curtains!!!!!!!!!

Better train the wife. Me thinks lots of vacuuming to keep her busy... Lol

You could always drop the neg cable off the battery to be safe.
Thanks - sounds like the sort of simple solution I like. However, if I do this what would the alarm do, i.e. how long is the battery back up likely to last and would it sound the alarm when the battery runs out? Also, I have a solar panel charging my leisure battery which is also charged via some sort of split charge and 240v when on EHU - anything I need to consider with this if I disconnect the main battery for an extended period?

Wouldn't affect the alarm, if the back up battery does go flat then there is no power to sound it anyway! Should be good for a few months TBH. Just be aware that there may be charging current coming back to the van battery from the solar set up via the split charge system so maybe remove the fuses from that.

According to the manual you should be able to disable comfort opening/closing in the MFD locking section...

I can't find it in my manual and/or see anything relevant going through the menus?

@Loz thanks but I can't find that page in my manual - the only relevant reference, besides the one on page 55 that tells you about the window open/close function and how to use, I can find via the index and skimming through is "Convenience Functions Reprogramming" but when you read it all is says is something along the lines of "Some convenience functions, e.g. door locking, can by reprogrammed via the use specialist workshop equipment..." (reference to VCDS?).

Am I still missing something or is it just that your Cali lets you play with a few more things?

Thanks Loz.........I'm going to take a look at that tomorrow. I thought this was a vcds/vagcom thing?

aaaaaaah......I might have been a bit quick off the mark there? Maybe it doesn't apply to kombi's........thanks anyway.

Theres a convenience menu ?
I have noticed several changes in the mfd menu system between my 65 plate and a 66 courtesy i keep getting, lots of additional displays like speed warning and instantaneous consumption so age and model will all likely play a part in what options you have

I would appreciate you still looking in case I am missing something - ta!

yea, I suspect VW in their infinite wisdom have created a menu that saves you needing vcds but needs vcds to make it visible :)

If it stops raining I'll pop out and have a scroll through the menus and see if I can find it..

After having the courtesy van and realising what i was missing out on i had a play with the VCDS adaptions menu for the instrument cluster and anything i tried to turn on that i didnt have like speed warn and insta consumption spat an error and said no, its another thing i need to have a play with when i have more time

Pictures below show the the limits of what I can turn on/off and set via my MFD (includes instant consumption and speed warning but not an awful lot more):-
