Windows Opening Themselves

Just gone out to the van and both front window were fully rolled down. It seems to have happened in the last couple of hours (I first went out a couple of hours ago to walk the dog and consciously touched the front screen to see if there was ice on it so would have noticed if they were down then) and during this time neither of us had our keys in pockets and/or anywhere else where they could of accidentally triggered the windows down function.

Any ideas?

Hi had the same problem now five times, each time it has been raining and the whole cab is drenched and flooded, it destroyed the air con motor and other ventilation motors and cost me over £1 k to get sorted...no explanation from VW and no apology...I have taken the issue up with VW but the technicians are saying it is a safety issue and can not be deactivated. I have suggested that VW set some sort of alarm system to go off when it happens, the. At least there is a fighting chance of knowing it has happened, seems very bizarre to fit a van with a security system and then have windows that open on their own. Would void my insurance for sure. If anyone has a sure fire way of deactivating this function I would be most grateful, as my van is getting WRECKED and it takes hours to dry it out.

I’m sure you could deactivate all or part of the ‘comfort’ function with VCDS
You can do sunroof and mirrors with VCDS so hopefully a window element too ??

Hi Pauly, thanks so much for your response.
I have been to VW twice and asked them to deactivate it, but each time they have said it is not possible as it’s a factory safety feature.
I have emailed them to try again
Thanks again

VW won’t do it, if it’s possible you need someone with VCDS like a retrofitter

I’m in Plymouth if your ever coming over the bridge happy to have a fiddle and see if it’s possible

Champion cheers Pauly, much appreciated, if I am up that way I will give you a shout

Have a great day

In our case the issue was almost certainly down to the keys in Jo's handbag, hanging up under the stairs, being activated when I moved my coat - similar would be happening with the keys in trouser pockets. We have just got into the habit of hanging the keys on hooks (well away from the front door!) when not in use and, so far, nearly 3 years in from when I originally posted about the issue, we have not had any recurrence of the windows accidentally coming down.

sticking remote button . . . . water in remote . . . . . . sitting on key . . . . . . etc

as above - press and hold the unlock button for all open . . . . .and press and hold the lock for all close.

try using your second/new key for a month . . . . . or try VCDS codeout like @Pauly said.
