...air mass flow, can that indicate a leak?
So the lack of the air mass specified value mg/stroke spike-up on my van is
because of the blocked off egr?
I took my van to a DPF & EGR Specialist to delete the dpf and egr from the ECU, the dpf filter is also removed and the egr is blocked from...
I've just stripped and cleaned the EGR on my van. 2016 T6 104 SWB (euro6) manual. #teamsilver
Some notes:
The steel pipe under the EGR can be bent down about 10mm, just enough to expose the nut behind it (lower left nut as you look from the right), fairly easy to get a deep socket on it then...
good suggestion. I was 95% sure the EGR wouldn't fix the issue so when the garage didn't want to do the oil with the EGR at a sensible price I decided to see if the EGR fixed anything first.
Oil and filter are now due (by age) so will be getting this done imminently.
Did a little more digging into this. Checked the EGR valve and noticed the OEM unit has been replaced with a Valeo one. Searched through the paperwork from previous owner, and found a receipt for some VW Dealer work to replace the EGR. It was done in May 2018 at 60k miles, so I assume it was...
Hello guys I have an amber engine management light on.
I had various codes. One was about the EGR, insufficient flow. And P0106.
I fitted a new air filter
New EGR valve and tube pipe
New maf sensor and map sensor
Now just left with P0106 and van feels down on power.
Any ideas?
Completely agree not an acute issue. I would suggest plotting EGR test as in thread EGR Valve Self Test Procedure (IDE00242)- P046C? - that will show how well (or not) the valve obeys. I like to think this as an early warning / canary type DTC.
...even remapping, but mostly that's never been enforced.
However DPF inspections are now explicitly part of the MOT and it's quite likely that EGR system may be soon.
I'd say in general unless the failure is inherently down to the EGR you want to make sure it's failure is not a symptom of...
The tafmet simulates the egr, so I believe the ecu still thinks it there, but the egr is electrical disconnected and blanked. I don't know what tuners do to remove it

Quick look under the bonet and I found this!! Hoping its a case of just needing a new piece of egr pipe! currently waiting for RAC but not sure what they will be able to do!
Hi we have just had exactly the same happen not long after an EGR delete (also due to a failed EGR valve - long back story here I won't get into now). Did you get to the bottom of what the issue was? Or is it something to "live" with?
I understand why an EGR blank may increase NOX levels...
Dpf left in situ, though if I’m honest that will get deleted if it gives up the ghost. Primarily left in place due to obvious MOT concerns
New EGR June 23, coded out but not plated out.
...VW and they said it just needs a software update. Apparently it is an issue that crops up on these vans and is a software issue rather than a new EGR valve. He did our MOT a month ago and said he knows it is not a faulty EGR valve as the emissions test was good. We are going to have a...
From the EGRs I’ve looked at this is fairly normal when they are caked in carbon. If this was the cause of the lost power (boost) I’m surprised it isn’t a more common occurrence.
Please keep us updated.
...engine type has a 4-charater code. "CFCA" is the code for the 180PS bi-turbo engine - i.e. the engine you have.
Each revision in design of the EGR cooler is indicated, as you've noted, by the last character of the part number.
The CFCA engine had an issue with the EGR cooler disintegrating...
