Update on the above: P040100 exhaust EGR flow insufficient turns out to be the EGR Cooler apparently. Best part of a grand I'm told. Good job I've not just shelled out to replace the timing belt too...no wait...
P040100. Staus: Intermittent
I have checked the egr pipes as best I can for leaks, no smell, nothing obvious.
Am I right in thinking this could be the valve not opening sufficiently?
If physically blocking/blanking the EGR is a 'good' thing, then why would an insufficiently low flow of egr...
Forgot to Add the fault code for the above post: (may assist searches)
OBD port fault code:
VW fault code P040100 - Exhaust gas recirculation low flow rate
hi everyone
I bought my van with 20,000 miles on it from an independent dealer in Wigan. A week later the EGR light came on. The dealer paid for the EGR to be replaced by my local mechanic to ensure I wouldn’t have further problems. Several months later the light came on again and the EGR...
...feel a bit light headed with my head under the bonnet for so long surrounded by exhaust fumes.
If I take it to a garage, where would they be looking for exhaust leaks?
What leak would trigger a 'P040100 exhaust gas redirect flow insufficient detected' code?
Or are the two not linked?
Please...
...has run fine for nearly 7000 miles and 18 months but now the Orange engine warning light has come on. My simple diagnostics OBD11 shows fault P040100 and states Exhaust Gas recirculation - Flow insufficient. Is this likely to be the new EGR at fault so covered under the 2 year parts warranty...
Hi! Well, These are the ones I'm wondering about: P20ee00 catalyst efficiency ; P040100 exhaust EGR flow insufficient.
It went into MOT fine but with a warning light (solid orange engine block). Garage reset everything and asked me to see how it went. We went up to the Lakes and it came on again...
Those error codes are classic for a pointer for the software update to adjust the adblue system. A VW dealer should do this, hopefully for free and give you a voucher for some free adblue refills as compensation.
Hi all,
Bought my bitdi in 2020 at 40k miles(67 plate) Few months after not doing much driving i had engine (EGR) lights on (P046C00, P040100). Thought it made sense as i did not drive enough and no motorway miles really. Then i started using it mainly on motorways and i had to have a flush...
Hi All, I've got the dreaded EGR insufficient flow fault. I've had the EML on for a month or so now. One issue was NOx and the sensor has been changed which has cured that, I now can't afford to change the EGR just yet. I know this is a string length question, but has any one out there driven...
Quick update:
My OBDeleven arrived and despite me suspecting the DPF, it's throwing up the P040100 code, yes, that old chestnut. "Exhaust Gas Recirc. Flow"
Love how the google function on OBDeleven sends you straight back to the T6 forum for the answers :fast rofl:
Currently considering blanking...
Yo Ray got the same prob myself had new EGR fitted just over 2 yrs ago but last week just outside Edinburgh the dreaded light came on that’s 7000 mls later. Its going in to VW specialist 2moro just hoping a flush will sort it if they tell me I require a new valve will bring it home and do more...
After spending a small fortune (luckily a lot covered by the RAC warranty) fixing numerous issues with my T6 including replacing drive shafts, stub shafts, alternator, front main oil seal etc. my van is finally driving great….. until the engine light came on yesterday when on the M25 after about...
So it seems - inevitable P0401.
Well, visited a VW garage to be tested - the van had accumulated 30 events in ECU's memory since July 2021 (since 20 months now). Eventually managed turn on the emission light at event number 31 - thus had a priviledge to have EGR flow tested. The result -...
My van is 4 nd a half years old, 60k miles. Had a major service last week and a new cam belt. Couple of days before the service the engine management light came on. When I dropped it in I asked him if I could take a look at it only to be told by charged £125 for diagnostics so I said I’d...
Recently got the yellow engine warning symbol up too.
Carista showed fault code P040100 and was able to clear it last week using Carista (today it won’t let me, or give any fault code details, unless I sign up for the Pro version!).
The van is doing regular re-gens, and Carista showed the...
