Well, it's EGR time again! I bought the van nearly 5 years ago at ~99000 miles. I'm sure I saw a receipt for a new EGR' in the paperwork but I can't find it now. Either way, the date of manufacture of the old (aftermarket) EGR is 2018 and the van (Euro 5, 140) was registered in January 2016...

You would need to remove the EGR and buying a blanking kit for the pipes. Then get it mapped out of ecu. When my EGR in my trusty works van went for the 3rd time I bit the bullet and had it removed and mapped out. Vans been great since

you sure its not a split EGR pipe in the engine bay? (final exhaust fuses shouldnt smell very bad due to the cat and dpf) but the EGR pipe splitting is a very common issue . . . and yours is a 2018 so prime candidate. I've had mine done on bot 2018 and 2017 vans...
