Solar PWM & MPPT Controllers - How I Done It -

Right the final bits turned up today, I need to get the seat off and have a proper measure up. But if I have to route the cables to the battery from under the passenger seat that should be OK. So this is how I think it should be connected. It's the order I would like to confirm... I was going...

    Ovano Switch XL or Narrow

So I bit the bullet and invested in the narrow unit and I am pleased I went for the narrow as I can place my fridge in the void and route cables through the bottom of the drawer. All looks perfect

    Solar Panel no controller

I was under impression if I started down this route I’d have to change all electrics / hook up etc, well beyond me, is this an incorrect assumption? Is this only required if I went down the lithium battery route?

What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Fitted the alpine CE2100RD camera. Mounted it to the spoiler so that i can keep an eye on the bike rack. Routing the cable was fun. Small hole in high level brake light to feed the camera cable. Routing it down the barn door following the brake light cable and then behind the door lock...

    Remote switch for water boiler

The user manual states "The instant hot water appliance is an open vented system appliance. When not being operated the pressure is 1 bar. The operating pressure is 1.5 bar to 5 bar". Does that answer your pressurised system question? I don't have any documentation re the [currently redundant]...

    Remote switch for water boiler

I suspect it's just an immersion element so no powered circulation in which case overrun is not an issue - I assume you also have a pressurised water system to feed it? If it goes on and off with your inverter OK then you could switch it on the mains side, but that means you are going to have...

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

What was I thinking. Fitting it at the bottom the wiper can clean the window to give better visibility in case it's raining. Having it at the top the wiper won't reach. Also, much easier to fit.

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

That's what I ended up choosing to do :) The camera can be fixed on top of the plastic wiper motor cover and the cable can be routed inside the tailgate under the window and up the side to the rubber gaiter. I have the AUTO-VOX V5PRO and the rear camera has a decent field of view and adjustability.

    Faulty solar panel ?

yes, well it seems to be well documented that unsupported ridges is what causes the premature failures in the panels, as it allows uneven thermal expansion which crack the busbars. I've got flexible panels now 5years old that work perfect . . . as they are mobile and not stuck to a roof...

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

Let me know if you manage to get fish wire or similar through that corner where the red line is and successfully route the cable. If you do I might try again :)

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

Did you try using fish wire. Like I have in photo? Drill hole the size of 5 pin connector near camera. Then pass the fish wire behind panel (green line). Surely it'll come out other end (red line). I need a 5 pin extension. They do them in 1m upwards. I only need 0.5m to connect to 5 pin plug...

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

you could do it easy way as I have done it - just use sope or dishwasher liquid on cable to make it slide easier (not the end of the cable of course)

Moving electrics from under drivers seat

Yes I have a sunroof, that’s what it must be, it’s coming from the exact spot as in the picture where the grommet is so I’ve routed the cable through anyway, the drain pipe is that’s what it is has came off and there is no way of me putting it back on either so hopefully won’t cause any issues

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

This is what I was looking to do, but I couldn’t get the cable to route through the top of the tailgate. I had a hole already from vanshades I’d removed so I used a wire to try and run it along the green line I’ve drawn behind the metalwork. It always got stuck at the red line though in the...

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

Found a route from the centre of the console to the left hand A pillar. Remove the trim and route over the passenger door. Then into the channel.over the left slide door. My van has lights all along here which pop out and provide access. Then a rod from the rubber tube hole forward to pick up...

    Routing Dash-Cam Cable through Tailgate

Now for the next fun part. Cable is threaded through rubber gaiter. Now how to get it to rear of camera. I read that in my next photo a hole was drilled so cable was threaded behind panel to hole where my finger is pointing and a hole was drilled. Threaded using fish wire. Cable from front...

Moving electrics from under drivers seat

well thats not the AC drain as that looks like this. ++++++ do you have a sunroof? I've herd that roof drains can come out in that area? ++++++++ more info here on routing the cables. . . the OEM route is behind the battery in in through the firewall next to the blower fan inlet...

Moving electrics from under drivers seat

Hi, I am in the process of putting electrics in van and routing cable from main battery, I have pulled out what I assumed to the the grommet that the cable goes through but it was attached to a pipe and seems to be some kind of breather and will be next to impossible to get the pipe back in...
