We use a steering wheel DiskLok, and a pedal lock when the vehicle is in a public place. Both take seconds to fit.
When it is at the storage yard or on our drive for any length of time, then we use a wheel clamp which is very visible.
Plenty of other more technical solutions used by owners here...
Maybe speak to an auto locksmith and see what they say?
I would also agree a physical lock such as Disklok (your local Halfords might have one in stock) or ClutchClaw from NK group is a good idea - if you can stand the hassle of fitting them.
I found this article on Car key programming that...
...not be pretty but can stop an easy and quick break in, Armaplate are probably best for these, the bolt thru type not just the stick on type.
Diskloks and pedal locks i believe are also a great deterrent, along with the Ghost sticker that can go in the window when you get one fitted. Anything...
...facility (which has a high security rating). It costs us about £550 a year, and there is often a waiting list.
When the van is there we also fit a wheel clamp, disklok and pedal clamp, just like we tend to do if it is on the drive when we are working on it.
Message me if you want more info...
Glad you finally got it fitted, shame Ghost appeared not to be completely honest with you.
I think i will get a pedal and disklok to begin with and order ghost myself. Then hope thats sufficient otherwise maybe a tracker down the road at some point.
Thankfully I have a spare key.
Still available, sales are rocketing due to keyless entry thefts - obviously acts as a visual deterrant - my thinking is it's a hassle a thief wont want so moves along...
I think it is above 30mph for more than 3 minutes that disables service mode meaning that when the van next comes to a stop they won’t be able to restart it. I’ve had Ghost since day 1 and had no problems with using service mode (though, as it’s infrequent, I have to read up every time I use...
Thanks @Berto84 which model do you use ... the Pro or Pro Elite ?
Thanks @BiTurbo do you use the Disklok yourself ? You're right, I have been struggling with the decision between the two. I have read many reviews where even the Disklok steering wheel protector does not stop the damage it...
Hi,
Ok, so you're a resourceful lot on here...
I was putting the Disklok on to my van tonight, I dropped the key and its gone into the void at the bottom of the windscreen - as its at the very bottom I can't reach it or even get close with tweezers etc - you can't fit your hands down...
...- just been out and tried it on my Highline MFSW and it fits fine. It goes on easily so no reason why it would mark the leather.
As regards Disklok, the most recent Auto Express review puts the Stoplock Pro above it this year (after years of having it the other way round), primarily for...
...floor lol. Had the first service done on the bus and used the service mode no problems.
I feel a lot happier with the Ghost and also the Disklok fitted when parked. Layers is the trick I guess. Only advice I’d offer is write the code down before you change it in case you forget when...
Pedal Box is another 'make em spend time' deterrent, Campers are attractive to these mongrels, spending a few quid on protection, I have a tracker, DIsklok and a clamp, if they want it they'll have to bring a low loader, I'll see them on the CCTV.
