2030- no petrol or diesel- What would you buy now?

Sorry to use this ...Blue sky thinking...
Spent far to much on my van...so when battery technology gets better ...swop out the entire drive system and go electric
I get to keep the toys I want and not get the toys that VW think you want in the future....as example I love my sun roof but you can’t get as a new factory option

"1% of people cause half of global aviation emissions – study"

Part of the reason why the ordinary person will have to give up cars, is so that one percent can continue gassing us from above, while the rest walk to work.

We have recently handed back our nissan leaf which was our second leaf. Had them in total for 5 years. Brilliant car, great to drive and relatively cheap to run if charging at home. However we have just gone back to an ICE car as the price of EV's has gone crazy expensive. Some manufacturers have put multiple price increases over a few months. ICE will continue for many years to come imo.

Not so far fetched as it sounds!
If you can do it to an old Landrover I'd expect it to be possible on a T6.

Every time I hear the news today, it changes. It started off saying there would be no ICE cars to be built, then Jeremy Vine was tell us it would be all vehicles, now they are saying there will be no vehicles powered "wholly" by petrol or diesel. Does that mean every vehicle will have some sort of hybrid technology?

If that is the case, it's not all doom and gloom just for the foreseeable.

I am actually going to be snapping up a few classics now, and future classics, so they can be enjoyed beyond 2030

You wont catch me in an electric car

So far I have a MK1 GTI and the RS3, always looking for more - I’d like to add a MK2 GTI 16v to the fold

Agreed. My understanding is that it is pure petrol/diesel that will stop production. A hybrid T6 could be perfect.

Mk1 Golf Gti - fantastic looking modern classic, already great investments.

I keep thinking about this. I'd love an Urquattro, but out of my price range.

Doing the same although having driven a Taycan Turbo suspect I’ll be in a BEV before 2030.

I predict the electrification of the Diesel vans will cause a big dilemma for the ‘low is best’ owners. Having to raise the van again to fit batteries under the floor will go against the grain!

That’s a thought I could covert from a 2WD to AWD ...electric drive motors ..direct drive to each wheel :)
