There are so many threads on here about the issues with this engine I just wondered if anyone has had positive experiences?

Have you enjoyed relevant issue free motoring?

Has your van done a high mileage with just the usual issues that come with this?

Having read all the issues it’s making me doubt my purchase and dreading the day my oil consumption goes through the roof or an engine light appears

Would be nice to hear if anyone has anything positive to say.

Just one thing, there are numerous threads with issues these engines experience so let’s keep this one a positive thread

Plenty of unaffected cxeb users out there.

I was one of the unlucky ones, but have now had a new revised engine fitted - so happy days, looking forward to a further 150k trouble free miles.

65k miles no issues. I did a Millers oil sample check last year & it came back healthy. I do change the oil regularly with OEM oil.

66 plate CXEB at 117,800 miles, I purchased it at 92k.

I’ve commented on the above threads with woes in the past, normally about my anxiety thinking my vans about to go bang but the reality is:

Prior to purchase - New EGR following eml & limp.

Since purchase - new inlet manifold, swirl flaps. FULL of carbon. Symptoms were an eml and very frequent regens. This also resolved a whining noise which I was sure was the turbo giving up. It wasn’t (not yet)

Regens are still more frequent than they should be but I do a lot of short journeys and it’s done 117k. Of course dpf isn’t at 100% health.

Oil consumption is 2k miles per 1l of oil. Perfect? Nope. Within tolerance, yes.

I could quite easily be placed in the lucky list of troubled free motoring I think.

Am I nervous? Yes, yes I am. Do I want to sell? Yes, yes I do. Will I? Probably not.
