3rd Time Around... Indium Grey LWB

Got a busy few weeks ahead, so far this week the leisure battery and split charge kit has turned up, smev 9722 kit, solar panel regulator, 240v mains kit, and Evo units looking like a Saturday collection

Can’t wait to start phase 2 of the build.

Broke the back now of my conversion, from flat pack to basic install. Need to fine tune everything and install bed boards and overhead locker, table etc. Also got split charge, solar panel regulator and 240v hook up installed. Still a lot to do but making progress

First up was the gas for the Smev and then a shelf to hide the leisure battery and make the space usable. Then moved onto cutting and fitting the bed boards. I have used Velcro to secure them to my bed frame that way it gives me the option of using the door to load stuff if it’s small or popping off the whole board if I want to get something full size under there.

Have put the overhead locker on hold for a bit till it’s warmer, that way when I bond the blocks into place they stand a better chance of curing correctly and quicker.

Now just really need to give it a clean

Added an extra 12v gang socket today, this is mainly for the TV and cool box (when traveling) had one in my old T5 and found it quite useful.

Also managed to fit the overhead locker. So now I’ve run out of bits to fit.

I have fitted everything that I’ve bought now, so will wait until I have had our first trip away at the end of April and see how she performs. I don’t think I’ve forgotten anything but nothing beats a weekend away living it to let you know if you’ve missed something.

Will probably take a look at the stereo and speakers next, if the camper build performs ok.

First weekend away in the new conversion and it was great. I almost had everything right first time!
Turns out I just need to modify the cupboard we use for our clothes and we’re all done.
Just goes to show that even when you think you have thought of everything, there’s nothing like a field test to prove you wrong.

So just thought I would update the thread with the couple of little jobs I’ve done recently...

First up was to wrap the chrome parts on the grill and bumper in red. Just as a trial really to see if I liked it. I’ve decided that I do so may go down the route of spraying or leaving it wrapped and then having the option of changing colours at a later date to freshen it up again.

Next up was to add auto lights function to the van. This was easy and only cost £17 for the parts from eBay. It’s a really cheap little mod that I again fancied trying. Still under review at the moment as I haven’t been out in dusk light to see at what point they switch on.

Just see the sensor at the top of the screen. But it comes with enough wire to have it on the lower dash if you want it there. I wanted it mostly hidden.

Next stop busfest this weekend.

No nothing fancy, just used recycled plastic insulation from B&Q. This stuff doesn’t sweat like normal insulation can which could lead to water build up behind the panels and then rust.

So after seeing it in another thread on here I purchased a 12v diesel heater from eBay. Two weeks later it’s here and I’ve installed it under the drivers seat.

I couldn’t really justify the cost of the known brands and at £115 delivered I thought it was worth a punt.

2kw output with the LCD control panel.

Will try the timer modes next week to see if the van gets warm before I get into it before work, and again before I come home.
