Ablemail AMT 12-2 settings

I’ve read too many threads on this, but am still confused.

I will end up with an AGM starter battery and a LiPo (Fogstar Drift Eco) leisure battery. Some threads seem to say that it’s fine to leave the ablemail in its default setting 4, but the instructions imply that you need to program it to setting 3 for a lithium battery.

Do I leave as is, or reprogram?

I have mine on setting 7, the higher output lithium setting. Works fine. My starter battery sits at around 12.25V

I changed mine to setting 3. Works great. My starter battery is on its last legs and the Ablemail keeps it alive. I’ve not driven the van for a couple of weeks and this is the plot from the monitor on the starter battery. Without the AMT it would be dead!

Mine is on default setting 4, it works perfectly, starter battery kept at 12.3 permanently. Be gone battery anxiety!

Thanks for the replies. As it looks like it will be easy to unplug the ablemail and program it later, I’m tempted to just install it as is, and see how it goes.

I’ve not fitted any of my upgrades yet as wanted my camper ready to use

Mine came with a 1-pager, which had instructions in it. You have to connect power to a terminal labelled S1 and watch how many times the LED flashes. Or buy an additional bluetooth module. I’m pretty sure the instructions are on their website, but I’ll take a photo of mine if you can’t find them.

TBH I’ve not looked at any of the instructions on all my new bits yet.
But I’ve kept all the boxes and leaflets that came with them.
I will read them as I’m installing everything. Thanks

As Anakin says, the instructions come with it. Super simple and can be done in situ. In essence it’s touching a live cable (the one from the LB is good) to SW1 until the LED flashes the number of times you want. No need for a module, specific cable or to remove it. Took longer to read the instructions than to actually do it!

I went with 3 which is for smart alternator with lithium LB but others have it working fine in the default setting 4 (smart alternator with LA LB). It just tweaks the trigger voltages slightly. If you have high parasitic drain (tracker etc) then you may find setting 7 better.
