AdBlue Software Update from Dealership.

Mine seems to run just fine since it was done all the way back home.

The only early observation is they topped up the tank and it now shows Adblue range of 4000 miles whereas in the past it showed 5500 - 6000 miles

You will have to make a note of the miles you do to what it says mister, I know even mine when it says 5k or whatever asks for it sooner.

Another thing matey said today, the software let's the adblue be used when the fuel tank is below quarter, whereas without it, it doesn't. He said as most people tend to run the van low on fuel this is what causes a lot of mil lights & egr faults.

That’s also because below a 1/4 tank, it won’t do a regeneration and that leads to ash build up and a mil light again.

Yep that but apparently adblue isn't just injected at regen according to the master tech guy, hence why it's listed in mileage, it can be injected anytime it sees fit

I know about the regen but must admit this adblue is a dark art practiced by witches & warlocks or so it seems

I dunno, if you wait til it gets pretty low, 8 x 4000 miles would be not paying for Adblue long beyond my ownership of the van. Having never had an EML though, I’m very reluctant in case this “fix” upsets the equilibrium

TBH, mine has never done the guesstimated mileage that the adblue says on fill up, I don't do much townwork & normally let the fuel tank get down to 100 miles range, then brim the tank. I do on average 10 - 12k per year. Never had an EML on or any other errors so I really dont want to break it with an update.

If my normal 5500 miles of adblue is only lasting me 4 to 4500, then when it comes down to the update showing 4000 will that only last the 2 to 2500 miles. @Loz keep me posted lol

Also VCDS shows that AdBlue injection is suspended during DPF regen. Makes sense to me as injecting (mainly) water when trying to burn soot wouldn't help. Of course the NOx sensor reads significantly elevated NOx levels then.

Mine is behaving very differently. Since my last AdBlue fill-up (year ago in September-2018) I have now driven 10.820 miles (17420 km) and I still have 1.200 miles (2000 km) AdBlue range to go . The AdBlue level sensor reads out realistic raw values (started at 136 mm and is now down at 54 mm, and has been counting down consistently). Most of the driving on countryside - 50..70 mph.

Next time you get a regen, would you mind reversing up the road a tad with your windows open, I think we are all wanting to know the answer haha

I had mine served at a a vw dealers on Friday, there was no recalls and no regen update? Its an 18 plate 150bbp? I was expecting the update tbh not that I'm complaining

I was having a visit weekly from VW Assist before the update but also a dealer inspection so I’ll take the EML not showing and the free Adblu

Yeah no kidding, I'd do the same. Wonder why there's such a huge variation in how well this system works among different vehicles.

Right on cue, I got the "Inspection due in 28 days" alert when I switched on today so time to get it booked in and see if they'll agree not to do it
