Air Box Removal

Evening peeps....

I have noticed that the side retainer, on the lower left side of the air filter box is missing. Broken off it looks like. This retainer, slides into the the wing, just to give some support to hold the lower section of the air filer box in place. Unlike mine wobbles around like a loose tooth.

I can remove the top half to reveal the actual air filter no problem. Directly down I can see one bolt, right side towards the front end. Removed that an nothing, seems there is something else holding it in place, I can't even lift straight up. There looks like there may be another pipe connected underneath, but as said I can't even lift up slightly.

Thanks Jay

Did you ever get the box out please? If so how please?
Hello, I'm changing the timing belt etc on mine and it took me bloody ages to get the air filter box out. It hasn't been removed before so this was the first time from new. The main problem was separating it from the air intake hose (semi rigid plastic tube) which enters at the front of the box. Brute force essentially. I think the box has to be rotated slightly to get the two lugs past their window. Easier to show a photo. Will post one when I have my belt changed and putting it back together.

Stephen

After a couple of hours I'm still stuck with mine. There's clearly a trick to it I haven't found yet!
The main front intake isn't attached anymore. The small drain is still attached but that's not what's holding it in place and I only need to move it a tiny bit.

Any clues as to what was holding yours in place would be much appreciated. 10mm bolt is removed.

I want to get access to the engine mount bolt underneath the right side of it, so I can jack up the engine an inch to gain access to the alternator, with the bumper off.
I need to change the pulley on it, and this could be the simplest way.
