Brake costs

So brembo, Pagid, or nutexa?

Want the same performance as my OEM or better. Done around 45,000 miles over 5 years with the current set…

Nutexa

It's a no brainer - everyone who's fitted them on this little Forum hasn't had an issue with them.

As well as:
1. Competitively priced
2. Less dust
3. Better aesthetics (I bought drilled as I like the look, & for no other reason!!)
4. Supporting a UK owned company
5. Buying a UK product

The only thing I'd say, from previous experience, is that the Brembo standard stuff isn't great.
I've never had a problem with Brembo standard stuff. Currently running a set of plain Brembo discs on my 172 track car

Looking at the prices on GSF at moment, it would cost me £348 in parts with the discount code - that includes the Brembo pads for my DB9 front calipers

It is currently running EBC grooved front and plain rear discs with Pagid front pads and EBC rear pads. I won't buy the latter again as they came with nothing - no wear sensor or anti rattle springs.
The whole lot came to £126 for the back and *about* £250 for the front (pads were part of the fitting kit for the Brembo calipers but retail at £100) landed.
I can do the front discs and pads on the van, outside on the floor, in an hour - and that's with my mediocre skill level but all the right tools (I have an impact wrench and a battery ratchet, which are proper time savers - you wouldn't think they would be).

Has a quote for brembo fully fitted for £650. Better price than the VW garage.
Don’t forget to paint your callipers red as well.
Makes a big difference to the stopping power…

I’ve just rattle canned mine - looks

The only thing I'd say, from previous experience, is that the Brembo standard stuff isn't great.
It's made India. The blanks come from the same foundry as Delphi-Lockheed discs. It's all decent enough, but nothing exciting. People get needlessly excited over the name.

Only the exotic small-volume-high-performance Brembo stuff is manufactured in the EU, but they're canny enough not to ruin a good thing in the minds of a buying public.

There's also a hellhva lot of counterfeit Brembo stuff about. I'd only ever buy it from a bricks and mortar retailer with a good reputation.

Indeed, nothing wrong with Brembo (if it's genujne), but people get moist over the name when in reality the performance is no different to any other mid price OE equivalent.

Personally I'd choose Delphi-Lockheed discs over Brembo, if only because they Geomet coat their product so it's much more resistant to corrosion. That's important to me as a low mileage user who can have discs rust out before they wear out.

All in all very much down to personal preferences. As a high mileage user as well as doing a lot of towing my brakes don’t get a chance rust!
Drive safe
