New Discs or Skim T32

Hi gents hope your well, how do these disks hold up to corrosion? I'm up in Scotland and the salty roads, weather and the van not being driven daily seem to lead to increased corrosion on the disks.

My rear disks are now looking very tired and pitted, I think I fitted brembo disks previously and compared to the OEM ones on the front they look terrible. Looks like these have lasted 4 years which is not too bad I guess but will be due for a change.

I'll be looking to replace disks and pads all round at Easter when I put the summer wheels back on. What would you recommend?
 
For my own part concerning traffic lights and brake lights. If I suspect that I will be at a Traffic light road junction for a little while then I slip into P but often or not as soon as I do so the lights will change. If I come across road repair or similar lights I decide on the relative dangers at that stop. Some lights are very close following a bend and there can be real chances of being run into from behind. If another vehicle as already at that light I may hold back on the bend in such a way that any vehicle that catches the parked tail sees my brake lights and will be absolutely no doubts that I have stopped! Occasionally I may even use hazards if the bend it long for example. Only then might I creep closer to the vehicle in front and place in park or apply the real handbrake. I am aware that brake lights a bright and I am considerate of others but other things may take precedence. Living in the country is very different than the city often I am the only vehicle on a section of road and people may well be travelling fast, one has to make decisions on the occasion and the time of day or night. There is no one solution for every situation. The other thing one sees constantly in the country is vehicles running lights and I am not just talking about an odd second where it may be prudent to continue. I have seen on numerous occasions while stopped at temporary lights and at road junctions where I have been stopped at that light and another car coming from behind has then overtaken me and proceeded against the read light. Sometimes a vehicle that has even stopped behind me will do the same thing changing its mind, it will overtake and proceed at increasing speed though the red lights!

One of my pet hates, especially in the dark, having your retinas lasered by the car in front of you, but nearly everyone seems to do it these days. It doesn't help that as we age our sensitivity shifts to the red end of the spectrum so it becomes more uncomfortable for us.

It is an offence to use a vehicle lights in a manner that can dazzle another road user, and while I've never done it myself you can be ticketed for it. The problem is, as you say, the laziness is spreading and, like parking on the footway, it's become so common any copper wanting to do something about it would be shovelling sheet against the tide.

As far the question in hand I have been aware for decades that braking in brakes and discs is a good idea, its nothing new though the observational science might be.

Many years ago I had the fortune to to have visited a Girling factory its possible it may have been mentioned then also

I’m on the hills in Yorkshire and my van is parked on the road that is gritted several times per day.
I can leave the van parked for a week in the rain and gritter onslaught and there is no rust on the discs.
I think they have a high carbon content or something.
I did post a pic somewhere showing a pic of them when left for a week or so.

Our discs come with a black coating that will wear off on the braking surface, but offers some protection everywhere that’s not in contact with the pad. Our discs are a high carbon/steel mix and cope well in the winter months. Quite of few T6Forum members now have our products fitted and no complaints as yet

All the designs work the same it’s down to personal preference on which you like really.
