Camping Ideas and Tips

Can you get them that fit the 907 bottle

@Eli - Buy 1 of these from your favourite Warrington discount shop:

And then buy a set of these, again from your favourite Warrington discount shop:

Make sure you put the female, not the male end of the QRC onto the valve end.

Put them together & it will fit your 907 gas bottle, as in the top blue assembly from the below photo.

Gas valves.jpg

If you want to make a QRC for a standard bottle of propane (connects with a LH thread) then just buy the right valve, as in the middle assembly.
This has the added benefit of a hand wheel, so you don't need a spanner to lefty tighty or righty loossey (LH thread remember!!)

The bottom hose is just an extension hose with a male QRC on 1 end & a female QRC on t'other end

Simples...

first burn up. . . . with the rings. . .

and a brew . . . .

awesome . . . . all good.

ill see if i can get the Boss to cook brekkie on it tomoz. . . . .

.
Thought I'd try the flow,-gas 5kg fiberglass bottle.....

It's nice and light, plus the Red Reg fits too...

( I run the 10kg bottles in the garden BBQ already ,,)

Similar size, but half the weight of the red/green metal one....

What are you all doing in awning ref sleeping set up?

We’re away at the minute, first time with the awning and me and wife in the awning, girls in the van. We’re Sleeping on a double camp bed with a couple of self inflating mattresses on top.

We’ve always got away with a double sleeping bag in the past, but either it’s shrunk or we’ve “grown” over the past few years. Do you use a double or two singles? Or just use a normal duvet etc??

Other issue is the single sided zip on the double which makes getting in an out a challenge.
When we camped, we always took the double duvet and pillows off the spare bed. Very comfy, cosy and no annoying zips.

We have this for inflating the sofa and the kayak and it saves a lot of light headedness when encouraging the fire to get going.EF4BBF0B-6603-4159-9BDE-5D89DC65C097.jpegToday we discovered that the new washable Marvel mat from Dunelm was a fluff factory and needs to be returned asap. But we needed to eliminate the existing fluff!

TaDa! Tie/band a sock on the blower end and it’s a very effective vacuum cleaner!

i just noticed we have those same mats too . .

great for keeping the morning dew off the internal carpet,

lightweight but very absorbent, and machine washable too.
we also use them like that to stop any trip hazard on the tent threshold.

love the way they roll or fold up.

first pic i found . . . different mat, but same idea.

This stuff works.

The wind has dropped here in the Outer Hebrides, so the midges are biting. There was one local chap today, mixing muck for roofing tiles, he had a bright blue full head net on!

The odd thing is, they don't bother Mrs CAB. But they are all over me if they get the chance.

Had this stuff in the van since we first kitted it out, and not had the chance to use it so far. Applied it to exposed skin, face neck and hands, no more bites. They still fly around but don't land.

I'll be getting a second spare bottle as soon as I get back.

Looks good, I've signed up.

I'll get some to test out.

The interesting thing is it's deet free....... So I'll read up on how it's work..

.

Currently camped out in a field next to a fishing in lake..
.. so the midges are in force.

Got the deet stuff (OFF) ... But always willing to try different things.

I was recommended this for bug repellant…

Used above all the time here in Spain (you need it) works a treat keeping the little buggers away. There is also another spray, but wife does not like it:
