Campsite costs UK

saying that tho…. It didn’t bring my caravan insurance premium down quite a lot that’s the only reason I did it

We just booked 5 nights at Pentewan Sands near St Austell in Cornwall, right beside the beach.
Cost £65 for the 5 nights (£13 a night) no electric, mid September, we are going there right after the BUSFEST weekend
I think that’s a great price for the location
Went there last year, early September - weather was terrible and the van had power issues, which put a real downer on the experience. Hopefully you'll have good weather and a great time - as you say, the beachside location is great.

Be aware that the soil is very sandy (yeah, who knew a beachside site would be sandy?) and you'll need appropriate, screw-in tent pegs if you intend to use an awning/canopy/tent/wind break. We only had standard pegs and they just wouldn't stay put in the soft soil.

Ok thanks for the peg advice , I think I have two big screw type anchors somewhere in the shed
I’m planning on it being nice and sunny over BUSFEST and the following week, infact I know it will be a heatwave just like 2023 BUSFEST..

We were pleasantly surprised with Pentewan Sands when we stayed there a couple of years ago. It was out of school holidays, but we had a EHU pitch close to the sea for around £20/night iirc. Just proves that you can camp in Cornwall without having to sell a kidney. I’d happily go back.
We did have an amusing conversation with the young girl in reception regarding our boat though. There’s a charge /night for boats, even if they aren’t used or on a trailer on your pitch. Ours is an inflatable that lives in a box trailer, we blow it up on a “as and when” basis. We’d been there a couple of days & we decided to put the boat in, so I went to reception & asked to pay for a boat permit for the day. The girl said, “but you don’t have a boat, it’s not on the booking form”, “I know says I, it lives in the trailer, so it isn’t actually a boat until we get it out & blow it up, until that point it’s a box trailer, which you don’t charge for” you could see the cogs going around. “So are you paying for the boat for the rest of the week?”
“Err no, because when we recover it today, it’ll be deflated & put back in its trailer, so it won’t be a boat anymore”
…..I paid for the day.
