Campsite costs UK

I normally say I’ve got an awning when I book anywhere as I think I might get a bigger pitch if I do although never sure if I will put it up.

That reminds me, I need to change my booking in the summer on a C&CC site as I didn’t add the awning to the dimensions and we will definitely have one there and that site told me off before for not have the correct dimensions on my booking (although if I did it wouldn’t let me book the pitch!)

Not that I have a wind out (still considering) only a sail but my argument would be how permanent is it? I wouldn't expect to pay for a sail/awning put out in the day for some shade but if I put it out added the walls and stacked stuff under it overnight that's no difference to a full awning?

Technically if we went camping we'd have the van, the sail, a tent and a 6 foot box van trailer (all gear from reenacting camp days) and I've so far given up every time trying to find out how to book that.

I did try a couple of local family camping sites that were tent only but they won't let the Caravelle on as it looks like a camper - having the rear kitchen pod I guess makes it ambiguous but the reason we're bringing the tent guys is because it's not practical for 4 us to sleep in the Velle... *Bangs head on desk*

Oh wow, think I've hit a new high (low). Looking for a place to stay around the 30th May for a couple of nights, in the Poole/Swanage area.

£64 a night for a grass pitch. Inc electric, awnings and an indoor pool pass. I should bloody hope so! o_O

We sometimes use either a Vango Kela Drivesaway or a Kiravans Railsail or Debut Sun Canopy depending on circumstance and mood! Nowadays, the Kela is being used less and less though. On the rare occasions that we do use the Kela and I book a site that charges extra, I tend to grumble but pay. However, if we're only using either of the others, I would ignore it and just put the thing up - if they come after me, I'll pay but I'm not volunteering. It's the same with our little Quechua pop up 'storage tent' we we use every trip . If they want to charge extra for what's generally referred to as a 'pup tent', my attitude is that it's not for extra people to sleep in so I don't volunteer and if I get asked, I'll cough up then. I've not been asked too pay for the canopy awning or pop up tent yet. I would also take the same attitude if, the gods forbid, I ever required myself to take a toilet tent (aka Turd Tardis).

It is indeed. One to avoid? (I would anyway going by the price!)
no we like going there plenty of good walks straight out the site we normally go there low season so £27 PN only down side is national trust seem to have the majority of car parks in the area studland bay all car parks NT so we are members and they charge a lot for campers free if your a member or park on the road and walk to beach and swanage is no camper parking on the sea front
Edit they do have a good shower block and pub there

Cheers, couple more options there.

I'm probably going to go with Campsite - Burnbake

I've stayed there before on a motorbike, they've expanded a bit since then but looks decent. £21 a night and it's a 20 minute cycle to the chain ferry or shell beach, I can go and look at the multi-million pound houses on sandbanks

Looks a bargain, go for it!

We were wondering whether to go to the Sidmouth Jazz Festival as there are two acts we wanted to see. About the nearest site wants £110 per night for a Touring Pitch

We have decided not to take up their kind offer of a pitch. Especially helpful is that we found one performer is in Brighton on that Sunday night so a chance to visit our favourite site. The other Band often plays in London and we see them regularly in any case. So we have saved ourselves £££ :)

you pays your money & takes your choice tbh. We're in the CC&C & reasonably happy with it. The main benefit for us is the ferry discount which pays the membership fee. We avoid the main CC&C sites, in our experience they are over priced & over managed, the CL sites are gems & our sites of choice. We have, in no particular order:-

CC&C siteseeker app
ACSI card & app. Best value imho of all the available "Club" type subscriptions, pays for itself times over. If you're an "Out of season" camper, it's a no-brainer.
Park4night
Searchforsites

Between them, we've never failed to find somewhere to stay.

Does C&CC have ferry discount? I can’t see it on their website when looking at offers to sign up. But can see it on the offers for C&MC

This is why we dont go anywhere over bank holidays.
It's actually £100 a night at the weekend.

But... It's a tiny site and that's booking the entire site. Which allows for 10 people, 4 cars or motorhomes, oh and a single dog!

So it's effectively 4 pitches in one, just with the limitations of one 1 dog allowed, and no all adult parties. So at £100 a night it's actually £25 a night (£19 a night in the week). And of course you get the entire place to you and people you know.

I'm not seeing that? WIth 10 people the cheapest I see it is £300 per night!
EDIT: I think I cocked up the booking. So I see £75 for 5 people then another £75 for an additional 5 for an overnighter going up to £200 for the same group but at weekend.

Ahh yeah, the £100 only includes 5 people!? I don't get the pricing of some of these places. I mean you're paying for the entire site, how many people are there doesn't matter!

Just for comparison, we have just got back from a week cycle touring (pedal power) around the Isle of Man, the cheapest campsite was £12.50 per person, so £25 for a little 2 man tent, basic farm campsites.
On another note, definitely going back at some point with the van, really liked the place, and looks very campervan friendly.
