Campsite costs UK

Looking into whether we can stay anyway on Saturday only and the only places that are available and don’t require booking the full weekend want £60+ a night.

The latest Caravan and Motorhome magazine (Opinion, Nov 2024) has some interesting investment costs, all of which of course have to be recouped through camping charges. New water main to a Devon site £215,000; fibre internet for reliable wifi on a Midlands site £70,000; upgraded electricity supply at Steamer Quay £130,000.

Our style of camper usage would only need a fresh water supply and waste disposal so I would always ask the question. Why spend that amount on services that I don't require? I didn't spend what I did on the vehicle to fund someone else to duplicate them!

Do what everyone else does and chose a site thats suitable for your needs at a price thats agreeable

If you don't wanna pay for someone elses water , wifi or lecky make sure you have sufficient onboard

If only we had plenty of basic low priced sites in the UK, as we don't we cross the channel into France!

With 90l of water, a lithium leisure battery and solar on the roof, onboard wc we don't need a fancy camp site.

Yeah but the downside of that is what you save in pitch fee's you spend in fuel, tunnel/ferry costs ......but its worth it for the food ,wine ,weather.....etc imho
