Covid-19: How is it affecting you?

Interesting thread for the grammar police to raise their heads, people dying and losing their jobs,.. but let’s edit/correct above post!

Can you not open a new thread for this? :(

Not too much change to my daily life tbh, instead of working 6 days I'm working 4. We are free to go around and travel without restrictions. I cant cross the border so thats my biggest change.

Btw you guys in UK have some seriously misinformed cops who confuse guidance and law very easily!!

I didn’t mean to be over critical of the Police. In fact I agree there wasn’t really much they can do. T thing I did think could have been better, if they wanted to limit use of the park was to stop people turning off the main road into the small housing estate rather than letting them get half way before coming to the coned off section.
I also believe people are now starting to struggle mentally with the lockdown.

it is affecting us by not seeing our wonderful 6 Grandchildren. Working as normal both me and wife.

I've got a bobbly jumper... just saying.

Slightly off topic but so far we've spent £400 getting rubble and surplus soil removed by grab lorry from our fixer up/money pit of an house refurb... I can't help thinking that if distancing restrictions were relaxed I might stop digging this tunnel to Wickes?

to Wickes?

Yesterday I finally got to order a part from Wickes I needed - their queuing system and selection of what is important or not is a bit odd to say the least. That said once I've got the material today I can fix our wood store roof (and its nice and sunny here) :)

They asked for feedback in a follow up email when I got some stuff from there last week, I wanted to ask them where was the logic of having to queue online just to get access to their poxy site and only then find out that they don't stock that item or timber size... obviously I didn't reply as it's far easier to come on here and whine instead!

That poor van, worst site for pitch size and expensive hookup...

This last few weeks has really brought it home to me that I am extremely fortunate to live where I do, cannot begin to imagine how awful it must be to be stuck in a tower block in a city in the current situation.

I hear you there.
Although people choose to live where ever suits them, I never could understand that whole London/city living thing. You pay an insane amount of money for a tiny property with no garden and often a view of more buildings. It's no wonder the parks in the city look overrun with people. What else can they do.
I feel extremely fortunate that some of the most spectacular rural walks are literally within 10 minutes walk from my front door, making all this slightly more bearable.

Yep, completely agree with you both. The convenience of a city can no doubt have it's advantages, but it's not for me. I'm also lucky to live in a very pretty rural area, with beautiful walks across fields and along the river. It's a bloody shame that we can't get the kayaks and SUPs out on the river in this fantastic weather, but still lucky to be able to enjoy the walks. Small sacrifices to have to make really, but it does make it all a bit more bearable. It must be tough being in a tower block in a city centre, or even a small block of flats with no outside space of your own and especially so if you live alone. I can see mental health becoming more and more of an issue as this situation continues and I hope that the emotional well being of people isn't forgotten whilst the focus is on managing the virus itself.

Once again agree with previous comments said by others
Another way to look at it is that we have only been asked to try and sit at home and go out as little as possible, not go out to war against another country and personally fight

Whilst out shopping today I saw someone on the river in their kayak. I would so love to take mine out as the section of river where I live is beautiful.
Its a bit of a grey area as some people class it as exercise and no different to riding a push bike but I feel its not the right thing to do (just yet anyway).

Yep, also live in a village, two minute walk and out into the countryside. I am very fortunate in that I can work from home and take my daily exercise, and never come into contact with anyone else.

We went out in the van today and parked up in the country and the whole family went for a walk together (10min drive, 1 hour walk), it’s been really hard to get the kids out of their rooms and especially both together so although I don’t really agree with the need for the new allowance to drive somewhere to exercise it was really good!
