Covid-19: How is it affecting you?

We went out in the van today and parked up in the country and the whole family went for a walk together (10min drive, 1 hour walk), it’s been really hard to get the kids out of their rooms and especially both together so although I don’t really agree with the need for the new allowance to drive somewhere to exercise it was really good!

I'm glad you enjoyed your walk, the benefits of exercise, particularly in the countryside are known but often underestimated. Vitamin D, made by the skin when exposed to sunlight helps our immune systems. More than ever we need healthy minds and bodies.
The "risk" that you took was next to non existent and was far outweighed by the benefits to your whole family. As long as we use common sense (short drive long walk, don't touch gates unless gloved, stay well away from others etc) it's not a problem.
The law hasn't changed, (it was rushed, vague and badly worded) just people's interpretation of it.

Yeah, right the law hasn’t changed it’s just that the government has issued guidance for police to enforce it stating all sorts of stuff, short drive, long walk= ok etc etc. Passed some people on the walk and most we either stood to the side for or they did but some people when we stood off the track to the side just spread out across the path, as if the normal state of affairs for them is for people to make way for them, FFS!

I think I was most at danger standing on the road taking pictures, so many cyclists on the road it was difficult to get a shot without one in! (A bit jealous really, perfect weather for a ride today)

It certainly was, absolutely glorious.

Better days are coming.

Here in Oz we are starting to see improvements. Closing national borders, requiring all Australians returning from overseas to go into supervised quarantine in hotels and the closing of some State borders is working. There have been many payoffs the best being a very low mortality rate. Tragedies abound, however, especially for families who have lost loved ones, small businesses and the self-employed. The federal government has put in place systems of wage support and interest free loans which helps.

This coming Friday at midnight, people in Queensland, where we live, will be able to drive up to 50kms for recreation. My wife and I will wait until Monday, chase the snakes, spiders, dingos and sharks from the van and go out, out, out, out to the mountains just behind where we live.

Better days are coming for us all.

TBH, I’d be more scared of the spiders, snakes etc than any virus but fair play, good luck to you, live life!

A lot of construction sites are re opening today, along with suppliers like Travis, Jewsons etc

My wife is NHS, she says the last week was getting busier on the road. Still quiet compared to normal, but a definite increase.

Feel really sorry for the NHS frontline and all the hard work they have put into the last few weeks
But on the other hand which I sympathise with people need to feed there families,
6 weeks with out money coming in is a long time

Damned if you do damned if you don’t

It’s not just those working. There’s plenty of people out and about just because they don’t feel that lockdown is fair / still required / something that applies to them.

A neighbour has taken his family to W-s-M for a picnic today before the weather breaks.
He says it's all over now and it was all blown out of proportion anyway.

Well let’s hope they get pulled over and fined in the process then. They’ll soon be singing from a different sheet when one of their nearest and dearest comes down with it, and at worse becomes a daily death statistic.

Unfortunately they're the neighbours that think that rules are for other people. They've have had a number of bbqs with at least 20 people in their garden over the last few weeks.
I'm glad they've sold up and are moving soon.

If we have the all clear Covid wise, maybe you could help them move and make sure they don’t forget anything

You could of gone around the houses a little.
I have spent the last umpteen weeks up to by eyeballs in Covid planning and Silver/ Gold multi-agency work, have completely lost the ability to beat around the bush. Equally I have similar neighbours on both sides of our house who think they are exempt. GRRRRRRRRRRRR:mad:

I try not to have anything to do with him, his harridan wife and obnoxious kids.
He's ex-old bill, and all my other plod friends can't stand the bloke.
