Cubby hole ideas

i dont know if its the same as i dont have the same box bit up there... but i took the lights out - two scres, then there was a bit of plastic that popped out and two more screws and the inner bit on that photo above came free after that..

I’ve pushed everything back in for now.
Planning to get the headlining out in a couple of weeks time to insulate everything up there so if anyone figures it out in the meantime I’ll keep an eye on this thread

Right it’s out!
And it was so simple too
Up inside where the bulbs are there are 2 torx screws, take these out and you can prise the lights section out with a trim tool

I saw the two screws - but I don't know how to get an angle to get to them out.
I guess there's something you need to do after removing the bottom panel to get something to move out of the way first ?

Too wide/long/deep?
There’s always a way....
Problem is sometimes the results aren’t pretty
I would have taken a photo at the time but my battery had died.

The front section (where the light switches are) is too narrow, so you’d have to fill the gap either side of the console.
The frame that’s glued inside the headlining is too wide where the metal clips at the side clip in.
The sun visor may well foul the mirror plastics.

As you say, there is always a way. But I’m not sure it will look pretty!

I was after having the switches at the front, so when the interior lights all run off that as a master switch, it’s easier to use them when in the rear or up in the poptop.

I love my T6, but there are just oneor two things that really let it down.

The plastic cubby hole, the one encompassing the interior roof light is not only pi55 poor quality, but to me, appears pretty useless.

It has a storage slot which has no use that I can think of, save to keep a packet of wet wipes in, because they don't rattle around, and I wont get sued if they hit someone when they fall out.

What do you keep in yours?

Is there a worthwhile replacement upgrade available?

Or are you very happy to ignore it? :D

Your owner manual etc. wallet fits in the slot but does stick out about 3”

So it doesn’t really fit then :p:p:p (sorry!)

That’s a heavy lump to fall out though, my point is that VW could have made much more of it, as it is I’ve stuffed some tissue packets in there.

Tissues. Anything else rattles until it annoys me so much it goes out the window!

Although I do put the key in there at night incase the safety lock doesn't work and I need the key to save wetting myself!! Handy for that.
