Cubby hole ideas

Stupid stupid stupid, totally forgot to drive with the map light on.

I did however manage to have a look inside a couple of T6’s though. From what I can work out Euro 5 ones come with the T5 overhead console, Euro 6 have a smaller hole in them, with a sharper edge inside. Must be cause your wallets are thinner after buying the ad blue

Good morning, I was wondering if there's any alternatives for the top box next to the interior lights, like a drop down box or the like? If so does anyone know the VW part number and how to go about replacing it?

The Exploria demonstrator (£85,000!) at the N.E.C last month had an Alpine DVD player/TV tuner installed up there! I think they had used a T5 box which is larger than the T6 one (AFAIK). It looked pretty smart anyway.

Thanks for the tip about the T5 being larger, the current box seems to be a bit of a waste of space, so was looking to replace it with something a bit more usable, or with a bigger access hole...

Watching this thread as I also think its rubbish. my only thought was to stick an LED or something in their to make it decorative ambient lighting feature.

I went for the a3 module as I know it's used in a few different models so hoping there's somewhere to mount it but from previous experience it's tricky as you have to blind drill a couple holes that need to line up exactly with the LEDs will see how it goes
Do the Passat modules fit?

If you mean the light fittings then yes straight swap but need the extra wire for ambient feed

Hey @JaySal .....play nicely! :)

Actually - for me - having it go off with the ignition wouldn't be a bad thing if its powering a dashcam :)
I was also thinking about getting something 3d printed to go on the front - dunno what yet - but I like playing with arduinos and other micro controllery type things - so I can think of a few possible displays :)

Still interested to know how to get that liner out so I can take a poke around..
Forgot to get a photo earlier but the flat panel just behind the lights is easily removed. It's held in by 2 metal spring clips on the long edge nearest the windscreen. The opposite side has two L shaped brackets that hook on. I'm about to pop out so will try again to get you a photo. Should have it loaded within 2 hours when I get back.

Nothing at the minute but it needs something useful. I like the idea that's been mentioned already of a 12v socket, ideally I like something for those occasions we sleep upstairs.

Upstairs, 12v, those occasions, add that to your electric toothbrush usage on your turbo trainer... Mate...
