DPF Regen Frequency / Issues / Force discussion.

I would take it back and ask for a refund. Was this from a vw dealer?
Yes vw in birmingham . I've ran the van for 500 miles now and seems fine. Taking it to another vw garage in glasgow for a look over tommorrow as well.
Vw birmingham have said they will give me a full refund, but apart from this the van seems pretty minted . I've asked around a few orher indies and vw garages they have all said most likelt down to van not having a good run.
Not sure what to do, no garauntees of any van really .

Mil light on today.
A quick scan reveals the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor has gone into fault.

(we can ignore the EGR fault as "Implausible Signal" is a software issue in the ecu and not a problem with the EGR itself)

I've only just bought my 2017 van, with 28,000 on the clock. My first long trip and the emissions light came on. Took it to a dealer and they did a 'forced regen' for £95+VAT. Warned me not to let the fuel drop below 1/4 tank as that led to a carbon build-up that regen couldn't shift by itself. I had no idea.

Surely it's still under warranty?
I would be asking for a copy of the fault codes.

There's a good few of these vans that will throw the EMI for no reason ( VW awaiting a software fix .... ) , which would make me want a copy of fault codes .
I can see the dealer wanting to charge for a forced regen if you didn't buy it from them , but can you not recoup from where you just bought it ? Although if it came direct from VW surely you shouldn't have to pay ?

Hope it's all good from now .

And would a fault requiring a forced regen not show the DPF light rather than EMI ( I'm not sure on this and maybe just a bit suspicious .... )

why when I meet a German who asks me for an indication for the right path, do I have the desire to send him to the wrong side? ... will it be the fault of Vw ..?

Just had my engine management light come on. 2 weeks over the 3 years warranty. If its a faulty sensor do you think it should be covered by warranty?

I think you would be covered under the goodwill scenario.
Maybe try get your van scanned for the fault code for ammo. If its emmissions related they shoukd either do gratis or discounted

I had a similar issue, and mine was the EGR valve. Mines at nearly 50k, 204 engine
Our work takes us all over the Uk, so lots of motorway miles, and long drives.
Had the light come up, and Vw assist came out, cleared the fault, but it was back within a week.
The dealer agreed the Egr needed replacing, and had my van in for a week, because they had issues with it !
Picked it up, fault still showed.
It went back for a new probe, whatever that is.

Then, a week later, they asked for it back again. They said they needed to run more tests, but who knows what the real reason was.
I was told the same as you Neil and had my Egr changed on the fifth visit back , mine was blamed on over filling with Ad blue the first time in which I was charged for draining and refilling.
I do 80 miles a day and if anything my mpg have gone up slightly

Afternoon all, currently heading south bound on the M5, 2hrs into a 5hr drive, Mrs driving, yellow engine light has come on? Any thoughts? It's a 2016 euro 5 so no adblue 70k miles, been on cruise pretty much the whole journey, should I be concerned about it? As we're away all weekend now

Thanks, Kev.

If you are passing J13>J14 you could swing off and I could scan it for you?

If you are just still into your warranty you could just get to where you're going and call VW assist out for a check.

3yr & 3 months old now, presumably not available to me, I've only had the van a month
Ok, no VW assist but the selling dealer is still liable for this repair. Doesn't help you right now though. Maybe find a dealer near your destination and drop in and see if they will scan it for you?

Possible emissions related.

See if it comes back after a key off and restart.
