DPF Regen Frequency / Issues / Force discussion.

Hi. Just picked up my brand new 2019 swb T32 4motion swb van

I’ve covered just 500 miles in about a week and a half. After the 2nd fill up the DPF warning light has popped up saying it’s saturated. Rang VW they say just rag it !!!
Erm it’s brand new it shouldn’t be on just yet should it. ? Anyone else had this issue ? I’ve followed the gear change indicators as normal and not had many short journeys.. any clues

I had mine on after a few thousand miles, on reading all the research and advice on here I did the following which worked.

Filled up with premium diesel.

Once the engine is nice and hot, drive on the motorway at 70mph and keep in 4th gear (not ragging it!) But keeping the revs slightly high. Drive for 5miles or so.

Should clean it out and the light should go off.

Alternatively go to dealer and they will flush it through if you're persistent with them.

Every now and then I fill mine up with premium fuel and repeat the above. (Twice a year) I never went to the dealer, mine went out after I had stopped and restarted again.

Good luck

It’s every few days that you’ll hear the fans running, that means it’s trying to regen, if you keep ignoring the regen cycle the warning light will come on.

Make sure you have over 1/4 tank of juice or it won’t start the regen process at all.

So I've had the Adblue fix applied & the light has come back on, so dealership are saying dpf possibly but want the van for 3 days.

Not happy as it's daily driver & worried it might become a non-warranty issue.

have you got any more info on the fix?

what/when/how/how long ago/how long did it take them? (the addblue fix)

how miles after till the light come back on/miles (after the fix)?

have you had a chance to pull any new fault codes?

Just bought a T6 so interested in looking after the DPF.
“Does 2000 rpm up the motorway for 10 minutes sort it” I’m presuming that it has to be in regen mode for this to work or can you clear a dpf by just gunning it down the motorway?
Also, do you get any lights on to say you are now in regen mode or is it that you just have to notice the smells and fans roaring away? I also have a Ford van where you have no idea it’s in regen mode until you switch the engine off and the fans are on full. If I knew, I could continue my journey down a local bypass to maximise the cleaning process.

You answered your own question, you need to know, the idle is raised and on mine the turbo sounds harsh.

No lights

Same

The manufactures don’t help the situation do they. It’s like, we want you to carry out these procedures but we are not going to tell you when!

I was just hoping that the T6 might pre-warn you with say maybe... a light!

Well it's been in today as I've been playing yellow EML bingo for long enough now and it needs a new one, £265 I've been quoted, wasn't expecting this only 4 months after getting it, granted it's above 70k miles now

Hi all,
The company i work for has 15 Transporters & 1 Crafter they range from 69 plate down to 17 plate, all do 30k+ mainly M Ways a year and in this last year we have had 8 vans off the the road all with the same problem including the newest 69 plate. We are a service company and cant afford to have engineers off the road same for the self employed man.

I'm afraid blowing the exhaust out is bull due to all the motorway miles, sorry salty spud!!!

Is it possible that VW want this to happen?

£££££££££££££

My new Caddy has been in so many times I am loosing count.
Fault is Emmisions control lamp comes on.
They first of all tried to blame me for over filling with Adblue, then it was the wrong type !
And I have never touched it!
It’s come on again after a new Adblue tank was fitted and I am currently waiting to hear where we go from here.
I love the van, I did a factory spec but this ongoing Adblue problem is really pissing me off! I nearly went for a petrol at the start as I didn’t want any problems.
I also have a T6 which is euro 5 and that has been fault free to date.
The way I feel this is my last VW which is a shame, but I just have no faith in the brand or dealers

Feel the same as you Stuart, mine has gone in today for the 3rd yes 3rd EGR valve!!
Think/sure it’s going to be sold as I’m out of warranty next April.
I ONLY use VW AdBlue and Shell fuel. So they can’t come back with wrong AdBlue/fuel!! Keep everything to prove I do.
28500 miles done, guess I’ve got a bad one, usual new battery also!!!

Have you asked if they will extend the warranty due to persistent problems?

Yes, that’s what I’m going to talk to them when they ring back tomorrow (hopefully).
Got my van back, flushed the system out (wow), just waiting for it to go wrong again.

Now 2 years old, I had the check engine light come on a month ago for the first time. Arranged an early appointment with the supplying dealer and they duly cleared the code having carried out a 2 hour regen. Now the light is back on again, as before, no reduction in power but I seem to be using more fuel than previously. I'm up early tomorrow morning to return to my seat in the customer area no doubt for another 2 hours.
The van is run around the city most day but has the occasional run out of town and I suspect that may be the issue. Can anyone give me some ammo for the dealer in the morning? I can't afford to be visiting my dealer every few weeks, particularly when the warranty runs out next year.
Help please!

Thanks, Derek.

Hi Derek

I've got 3 17plate Highlines running as Campervans. All 3 had yellow engine lights come on at around 20,000 miles. ERG flush at Vw fixed them. Just had another one come on again at 40,000. Must be a more common fault than what I'm finding online. I'll be damned if I'll be pating to fix again once out of warranty if they want to sell me more.
