DPF Regen Frequency / Issues / Force discussion.

What did they do?

Fit a new EGR?

EGR clean?

Reset fault codes?

Lol..

Prob EGR related...

Time for a good clean me thinks.

Mine keeps coming on after I reset it and it is a failed DPF Pressure sensor.

DPF light came on briefly the other day, I think it was trying to Regen but it didn't complete, then it went and this came back on, it's not had a long run for a few weeks, and I've been trying to stick to V power fuel since its last showing, trying to get it pushed into a guy I know as I'm going Scotland on Wednesday night

This is my error, spoke with my mate at VW Breeze and confirmed the sensor needs to be replaced.

32855 - Differential Pressure Sensor for DPF
P154B 00 [175] - Faulty
MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

So van went in this morning, typically the light went off this morning also, plugged in, error read "insufficient flow to EGR" advice was to put another bottle of redex through it and go for a long drive, if it returns get it above 3k revs for 20-30mins. So I'm in Scotland now :D and the lights came back on!!

Same here (egr) reset mine and it came on again showing insufficient flow was going to take it out and clean it but found Amazon had valeo on there, it’s was £209 bargain ! Fiddly to to change nuts , torx and spline and small top up of coolant . The old is really caked gonna strip it down and clean it for next time

awesome . . . . can you please post some pics of the old caked up one . . . . . ?

Removing the EGR is the only way to fully clean it.

Fuel additives just dont work IMHO . . . .

posted this before, just for an idea of how bad the EGR can get . . . .

Had my van 3 mths and yep I am guilty of doing short journeys to/from work inbetween weekends away. It does regen which I guess is accepted but last week my orange engine light came on (emissions). Panicky I took it for a run in higher revs(!) and a longer weekend run. Lights been off all week (phew). Not sure whether to forget it or get it scanned/checked? Have some long trips to scotland planned and I like to worry!

I thought the sensors measured the flow through the egr cooler and that is what gets blocked up, not the valve itself?

Soot, Oil and unburnt Diesel from the exhaust starts sticking to the inside walls of the EGR and the valve-plate itself which starts to limit the movement. after a while the soot builds up to the point where the valve cant open or close fully. After that the soot builds to completely block the flow of gasses (extreme case).

The ECU monitors the pressure differential across the EGR using manifold, turbo, up stream temp/pressure sensors. Some newer EGR`s from other manufactures have a position feedback sensors too.

a lot of manufactures are now trying to do self-cleaning movement cycles at the start and end of a run (an attempt to scrap off some soot from the valve itself). They command the EGR to go 0%-100% a few times . . . . you can hear it some times after shutting down the engine and listening for a minute . . . . . it sounds like a throttle plate/body sound.

The EGR cooler is a component used to lower the temperature of the exhaust gases that are recirculated by the EGR system. The EGR system recirculates exhaust gases back into the engine in order to decrease cylinder temperatures and NOx emissions.

Yeah dell I will dig it out as it’s at my yard ... on the things to do shelve . I was shocked to see how much was in there ,similar to the video . This helped a lot
