Thanks to all the help I've got from this site to get the van this far.
After a manic few weeks trying to get the van in at least a semblance of liveable state we set off to wales for a week. I was even trying to get the electrics working on the day we were leaving so we could have some lights and fridge. Managed it abeit ment we left a couple of hours late. Needless to say the van isnt finished.
The solar panel on the roof kept the batteries topped up to max beautifully.
We happen to have some friends who've just bought a lovely place there near Cardigan and 23 acres so we had a field to ourselves with a glorious view of the hills. Not to mention use of a bathroom re shower/toilet
We took a old LPG tank and camping stove to get us by and chucked everthing and the kitchen sink in the van (well a plastic washing bowl). We slept in the roof using a self inflating camping bed and 2 Duvalays (surprisingly comfortable). Our first night was in a car park which was a little un-nerving when you hear someone driving about at midnight but generally OK.
The weather was glorious and walks along the Welsh coast north/South from Newport outstanding.
All in all despite the chaos in the van Id say it was a success and look forward to the next trip, but in the finished van.
