So far this has all worked well. Just wiring and fuel line to finish.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone for their contributions to this really useful thread. It would have been a nightmare without it.

Little by little I am getting there

Just waiting for one of these

That goes here at the back of the tank and we are done

Just a final note to say that it's all finished and toasty warm. Got to have a play with the Autoterm control because it seems to do more than just on and off. It doesn't sound too bad sitting on the drive and I can't hear the pump at all. Looking forward to trying it in the wild.

Very nice!
The thing that worries me most is connecting fuel pipe. Is this doable on driveway?
I did my T5 on the kerbside, including completely lowering the tank. For my T6.1 I found a local ramp hire which was much easier and faster, and also didn’t require full dropping of the tank. It could be done on the driveway, but much easier to hire a ramp for the day if you can find one.

I am in the middle of the second such installation on my T6 - as you can see I was on a driveway yesterday...

Yes, it is absolutely possible to do it on the streetside. If you drive with your both front wheels on the curb, it will be even easier.
The hardest part (but still easy) is to take off both right and left mudguards.

Fuel tank does not need to be dropped at all! (if you have a webasto water heater installed). I know many people in this thread have done it but check a few pages back for the official VW way which does not require a new line from the fuel tank.
You just need to tap into the existing line right before the dosing pump for the webasto heater. And for this even the webasto does not need to be dropped.
Here's the schematic of the fuel line (and a hint on the fuel line parts needed, in case you are making a kit yourself ):

Heater install is about 30min job including the mud guard removal.
Another 30min for the fuel line.
And several hours for the cutting work for the air vents in the body and trim.

Very - whether using that T fuel line connector or a T and rubber connectors. Just note that I couldn't get anywhere near the aux water heater pump as on a T6.1 Cali it is hidden above the heater and the adblue tank.

What tools are people using to cut the hole through the b pillar? I’ve just got all my stuff just making sure I have the right tools to do it

Cheers

Your best friend is dremel. Couple of drill bits for round corners and for the first rough hole I use an angle grinder with an almost finished disc. Good luck!

P. S the step hole is more tricky. B pillar is fast and easy

Thanks for the quick reply, I have all that

I’m not going oem Air intake for now, just using the vent that came with the lavener pro heater.

Got most of the underneath done already

Hello everybody,

I'm new to the forum having joined looking for advice on fitting the b pillar heating duct.
Im having trouble tring to work out what lower panel I require for a 2014 5.1 panel van. I called TPS today but they will only tell me what's listed against my reg number but they did tell me the colour of my trim is classic grey (30t).

Any help would be very much appreciated

How far back did you read this thread?
