Fuel Filter replacement

If you are just replacing the fuel filter, it should refill/prime as soon as you turn on the ignition before starting. You can cycle the ignition a few time to be sure.

Thanks for the reply Loz

Snap we have the same colour T6's lol :)

Can you tell me please whats the things vw are saying regarding the pump not priming or turning on ignition etc...?

Is this true for only some in this case?

Mine is also a 2017 same as yours btw

Appreciated all your help guys

This is the bit that confuses me, it says the door opening turns on the fule pump not the key turn... from VW tech files;

When the battery is connected and the driver door opens, the door contact switch activates the fuel pump.

Escaping fuel can ignite and cause a fire. – Disconnect voltage supply to fuel pump before opening the fuel system.

If you do both the door and the key switch you should achieve the priming. It would be nice to know if one or both is required though.

Agreed if someone knows if you have to do both that would be great???

Its all to confusing all these new diesels lol

If you are somewhere with low ambient noise you should hear the lift pump run. Make sure the cab ventilation van is off.
Have a test and let us know.

Thanks Pauly

Yes I have downloaded and printed it but it doesnt have anything about the bleeding procedure sadly :-(

I just curious to find some who has bleed a T6 the old fashioned way without using the vagcom to prime the pump to see if its possible or I have to buy the £225 vagcom kit???
Yes I’ve done loads, if you leave the supply out from the filter disconnected you can push bit of pipe on it in a bottle and then cycle the ignition and it will prime the filter then reconnect pipe or back fill it with a funnel and clean fuel

Did mine last week......just backfilled the new filter with new fuel, turned the ignition on and off a few times and it started no problem at all.

Good idea, top man didnt think of the pipe idea... as long as my pump primes when ignition is on, i'll try in my garage windows down door shut tonight

Yea saw this too, great video... actually used his vids to do all my other filters lol

The last one is the fuel filter and I got a bit worried as I dont have the vagcom kit and so many ppl say the vans dont prime on key turn only on door opening...

Why are new diesels so complicated lol

I only did about 4-5.....it will turn over for about 5 seconds so don't panic. LOL

lol im trying not too atm... why do they make these things so complicated

so does your t6's fuel pump prime when you turn on the ignition?

im going to check mine tonight as from what i can see its half half some do some dont... how mad is that

TBH i didn't check i just followed the procedure and it was fine....just do it lol

Just been reading the “new engine“ thread, and realised that I don’t know where the fuel filter(s) is/are on our vans.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of the relevant information please.

Thanks,

Pete

Forget that, found the info here:

Is it an easy swap ?

Pete

The CDAT Tutorials video is good. The T6 filter change seems much easier than my old Skoda superb where I had to take a can apart to remove / install an element.
