Okay guys, about to jump off a cliff now, tested the connector block in the tailgate for earth (brown wire) all good, nothing from the other two, with and without ignition on, tested for power at the connector under the drivers seat, nothing only earth (brown) wire, shorted coax at drivers seat and tested at tailgate, all good but when connecting the fakra plug at the camera end bent the inner needle and a bit has come off i think, dont know where to go from here, gutted, need help!
Uploaded some photos too.

Check the power cables with the van in reverse I’m guessing you only get power when the reverse lights are on.

No suggestions on the damaged plug though, I’m guessing a new cable might be your easiest route to fixing this.

Good luck

Have you checked the fuse for the camera in the fusebox below the centre console?

Andy
Do you know where the fuse is and amp rated? I have just unplugged and checked
The connector under the seat, no power there so surely there is a fuse blown?
Any help greatfully received,
Thanks

Looking at the fusebox diagram the rev camera is 18th from bottom on left side, the lower of 3 x 7.5a fuses. The fusebox in under the centre console, behind the bottle cooler if you've got one

T10ay is the red plug under seat
12v comes from fuse SC18 as mentioned above and the switched live comes from J519 which is the bcm, the connection point in the loom labelled B520 is where the wire splits and feeds the reverse camera and the reverse lights so i would check your reverse lights and make sure they are working, if they are then you should have the 12v reverse feed at the red plug ?

Well chuffed!:D
7.5 amp fuse blown, replaced it and all working fine and coaxial cable making contact too!
I had'nt gone through the wires at all all tested out fine, can only think that the camera fuse was taken out at the same time when wiring my LED lights up incorrectly and blowing the fuse for them.
Thanks for all that helped me sorting this out, off for a well deserved beer!

hi
I've fitted my rear dash cam and reversing cam and routed the cables through the unbilical cord
from the barn door in behind the rear light cluster

my question is how do I get out under the van to run to the front ( cant run inside , fully converted )
Will taking the rear bumper off help ? , im trying to get things in place prior to a head unit change

thanks in advance nige

Oh, normal route is inside, along the near side roof. If you can't run the cable inside, then the best route is probably to follow the towbar wiring path. You'll probably have to drill and grommet a hole at the back, below the light, then follow the brake lines' route above the tank, and come back in via the existing grommet under the passenger seat; the same one that the towbar wiring uses. See enclosed Westfalia tow bar electrics installation manual, which shows the route. Not sure what loom you have, but if it's wrapped in the tesa cloth tape, that's not really suitable for external use. You may want to re-wrap, or put in some small copex. Good luck !

Hello all !
2016 T6 Shuttle Tailgate
I'm looking to install aftermarket reverse camera and need ideally an ignition live to power the camera.
I know I could run a cable to reverse bulb but would rather limit the cable running through rubber tailgate tube.
Does anyone know of an ignition live in the rear tailgate, or
Have a full wiring diagram of the tailgate or the rear wipe plug, In particular could anyone raise some light on the following cables on the rear wiper.
Cables numbered are: 4, 12, 26, 27
Thanks in advance
Chris

Evening all,

I recently bought an OEM reverse camera and rear led lights from the forum shop. @Pauly was a great help and very knowledgeable!

I had a nosey around google and the forum for a guide to fit the camera and couldn't find one so thought I would share my progress..

The reverse camera:

I have created a template to mark the tailgate and where to cut. Happy to share it if it would help anyone:

I centre punched the holes and drilled out with a 5mm bit. I then cut from the inside between the holes. I read up that rounded corners are best to avoid stress fractures and rust:

I filed the edges and test fit the camera:

3 coats of Hammerite to cover the bare metal:

I'm out of time for today but I'll try and finish it tomorrow. I've found the earth and where to connect the reverse signal. It's just the 2 wires up the front and a live. If anyone has done it before and can point me in the direction of a live that would be great

As it looks like you have done, I recommend taping over the top of the number plate (or removing it) to stop metal swarf falling behind the plate. The converter that fitted mine didn’t and I noticed a few days after rain, tiny rust spots stuck to the surface of the paint after the swarf had fallen from behind the plate. Carful picking away and some polishing compound got it off. Still, a good wash around the area after fitting may be worth doing.

Has anyone fitted one of these? I'm just about to start and was wondering if anyone had any advice..
the position is quite straight forward .. but was wondering about where to drill the cable hole etc
and how to route the cable... what method to use..

ok wired to head unit at front of the van, all is working but the cable is now hanging out of the panel that houses the airbag switch left passenger side. Does anyone have a good method for routing the wire to the back tailgate from here?

I’d go up the nearside A-pillar and along the roof, to the rubber conduit at the top rear nearside D-pillar.
