Yr8qkSqlThacR5CIBRJ1PA.jpg done and dusted... phew how did others get on threading the cable ( and connector ) for the reverse camera through the rubber thingy that all the T6 tailgate cables come through?
74dCQgqtTY6cnMrwnxZwhQ.jpg YEP this b*****d thingy ! my god without some serious brute force i would have had to work out an entirely different route but i got it through in the end.. anyone else struggled with this or is there a simpler solution i was too stupid to realise ??

Yeah, it’s a bit of a fight. Did you resort to using any lubricant? That and a fish tape sorted my cable out.

Finished result looks good. Where did your cable cone out from - the space between the number-plate lights?

jUUUMWhlTIq%uw1byRZ6zg.jpg I found that bringing the camera as far forward without it protruding was a better solution than further back. Its less hidden BUT I get a much cleaner rear image on the screen without any ledge at the top of the screen or looking through drops of rain that are hanging off the ledge.View attachment 54513View attachment 54513

yes in the above shot you can see where I brought through the cable it's neat and easy to get at on the other side.
No, i was thinking about lube but just about managed without it.. i used a hairdryer to keep the rubber sleeving warm as it was also freezing cold when i was trying to get the damn cable through...
oh and I also used a totally different sized (much smaller in fact just big enough) rubber grommet for the cable, the one Kenwood supply is ridiculously oversized and would require drilling a huge hole

Hi everybody
Has anyone fitted a USB reverse camera to a t6 with the Tailgate? looks easy but how do you thread the cable from the number plate to the reverse light?
Any suggestions welcomed,
I was thinking to fit the Auto Vox M6 or M8

Thanks

I share your pain
I slid the rubber sleeve up as far as possible and taped some cord to the cable and then slid the sleeve the other way to retrieve the cord and used it to pull the cable through. This was just for a couple of 1mm cables I'm dreading doing the reversing camera.

Yep well I’m still amazed I got the reverse camera connector through at all it’s not small and it’s not a shape that is designed to slip easily through anything !! Let alone that heinous rubber conduit....

pull out the rear light cluster and feed the cables down the void to the existing door loop area,
you can take out the rubber bung at the top to help fish a draw wire through,
then feed it through the existing cable loop to get into the inner door.

Dell my converter left the cables in the rear light cluster and I have to get them from there through the rubber bung and connect them to the camera fitted to the number plate. It wasn't part of the build and something I asked them to do so I've now got to complete the job. I've a barn door.

I take it I remove the rear light cluster (two screws), detach the wire plug to remove the rear light cluster completely to allow me to work. Then using a coat hanger or similar thread the cables (how many cables?). through the rubber bung and somehow get them to the spot bottom right on your picture where two cable emerge, one going straight up, one to the left. That doesn't look like Type A fun. From there I've to somehow get them to the actual camera fitted to the number plate, which is where Paulys mysterious 'plastic assembly' might come in, somehow I've to remove that and all should be revealed.

Have I got that mostly right, or can you fill in the gaps?

Okay, a bit more info on that thanks. I'll have a bash tomorrow afternoon - weather depending - but at the first sight of getting bogged down I'm outta there :)

Could anyone tell me if the wiring for the Rear view on a LWB T6 16 plate runs along of the passenger side roof? My camera has stopped working, it looks like a wiring issue as it's intermittent/patchy. I'm thinking it's been damaged when the pop top was put in. I've got a replacement cable. Any guidance on install would be great!

I think it runs down the drivers side

@osman I'm currently fitting a reversing camera to the tailgate in the same position as yours - however I'm struggling to get the cable from the camera to the flexible rubber sleeve at the top. I've used a fish tape but it keeps getting stuck. How did you do it? BTW yours looks a super neat job!

Total determination as I recall ! I kept the connector part close to the actual camera and brought the cable down from rubber sleeve through a channel and basically fished around for it until I got hold of it .. second time I did it recently for some led lights on the inside of the tail gate .. that time I used some silicon spray on the cable to get through rubber .. that was much easier but fishing for the wire through the tailgate cavity was a nightmare .. just patience persévérance and determination .

Sounds like I need to try a lot harder!! I'll try the silicone spray trick. Thanks.

It’s a proper pita, silicone spray is what I used and it def helps. One thing I did was use 7 core trailer cable, it’s even more of a ballache to get through but it means you’ll only have to do it once if you later want to power something else.

I used some stiff wire and went in from the top first. Once I located this near the bottom corner of the window/rear panel I attached the loom to it to pull back up.
I did the same through the rubber boot as well although with some silicone lube.
