[Guide] [T6_modified] T6 Webasto Aux/Parking (water) Heater Configuration with VCDS

This is a really interesting post. I am working on a friends van at the moment. It's come all the way from northern Norway to Scotland to be converted from a panel van to a family shuttle.

It has a Webasto coolant heater, factory installed, with remote module but NO REMOTES! I have ordered a new remote but will need to code it once it arrives. I've done a VCDS scan and noticed there is no label file for the aux heater. I haven't seen this before.

Do I need a label file before I can interrogate the module properly to code this remote or am I missing something obvious?
I have posted a request on the VCDS forum for some help but I noticed @mmi seems to be the resident expert in this section :)
VW Transporter 2012 - Webasto Aux heater remote coding (label file none)

Any help or guidance gratefully received.
Craig.
I see you have the roof controller installed, does it bring the heater on?

Yes it does. However, it think it has been factory configured to heater the engine first. I want to change this to passenger compartment only. Then code a remote because it already has the vw/webasto receiver wired into the van but the old owner must have lost the remote. Muppet ;)

I'm afraid the label file is crucial for proper interpretation of codings/adaptations. Interested to see how this goes... keep us updated.

EDIT: Interestingly found out that I also have logged a scan without label file - from a MY13 Caravelle:

Is it possible to add a label or does it actually look for a *.clb file?
If I have understood correctly the *.lbl file was the original plain text file format, which gradually has been replaced by encrypted .cbl format. Actually there are still in ..\Labels –directory many *.lbl files which are almost self-explanatory.

I think that the VCDS still accepts both, so basically could create one yourself or use an existing one just by copying and renaming properly.

There is a one bit difference in the coding with the one I posted above yours (0000031 vs. 0020031) - would that one possibly tell to the Webasto to look for an overhead control panel?

EDIT: Please, ignore the above. Just found out that the MY13 Caravelle mentioned above does not have a overhead control panel

I have tried everything with the overhead panel coding, I think it may be a software issue with the unit! No matter what I do it always refers to 'Air' heater.
Some how I need to change it to 'Water' heater

Tough one . I've found only codings 000103 and 000102 for overhead panels with water heater - in 5 different vans, however all with Webasto HW: 7E0 963 272 A as in MY16 above.

Interestingly both codings I have for your type of Webasto are: 0020031.

Assuming your everything included all these combinations.

This is my heater coding if it helps. Engine heating only no control panel.

Ross-Tech site has a scan with exactly the same components and revisions (your 6E revision??) - and no air heater ===> Ross-Tech Forums

Many thanks you guys, I'll try these tonight and let you know, it may be later on as the wife has taken van again!

I've tried a few of these setting with no joy, when I run an autoscan, I'm getting 'Malfunction 0010' on
Auto HVAC
Cent Elect
Aux Heat
CAN Gateway

But 'Not registered 0011' for the 6E-Ctrl Head Roof module

Maybe I'm programming it incorrectly!

A communication problem? Perhaps you could post here a full autoscan - there should be "better" fault descriptions in the modules sections?

I have managed to find the time to do a full scan, I have attached it, if anyone can help me out with this I would be grateful.
