How does a post Covid-19 world look?

Post covid19....umm ...according to Simon Calder (bbc travel presenter) ..Us northerner’s like our holidays (Spain) he said, but he suggests costs will rise and less choice of airlines....but the big issue is ..will Spain let us in...I presume we will all need a covid19 travel passport...as I understand the Spanish government wants tourists back as soon as...but are you going to want to sit on the beach ( if allowed) in your swimming gear on ( or off) wearing your face mask and gloves (forget the sun cream take your hand sanitiser)
Joking aside.....the U.K. hasn’t really got a common stance on the next steps , Scotland has a slightly differing time line....there’s going to be yet again more confusion at a time when we all need clarity..it’s great that each country rules its self but with hindsight the NHS should be treated as one :)

I'm going to be trying hard to avoid buying anything made in China. They've given us enough already. (and not been honest about any of it).

And less repeats on telly:confused:.....should ask for a tv licence rebate;)

For me, i've spent weeks, and now coming up to months glued to the news channels and websites, which might not be the best thing to do during a crisis, but that's me. There has been big chatter about how we come out of this predicament, and I guess no one will know exactly until after, so every hypothesis we read or debate is exactly that for the time being.

For the 1st week or so i kept on top of it, but since then I've done pretty much the opposite. What i have seen in these recent weeks is our mainstream media outlets have used their platforms apparently speaking on our behalf but with opinions that i suspect don't speak for the majority of people. For example - who here wanted daily updates from the government in the first place? personally i would have preferred the gov used their time to deal with the situation as it happened and not spending half the day preparing for a pummelling from reporters sticking in their own bias's for good measure . I suspect this hysteria they caused turned a bad situation worse.

I can't believe we have racists and allow racist posts on this forum.

Now things seem to be the other way round between us, because, this time, I don't really understand where that has come from.

We seem to have taken a diversion....

Anyway, not really back in track as I appreciate this thread is meant to be about a post Covid world, but I see that as pretty far off at present. The way things are looking, in my humble view at least, we’ll be released from full lockdown fairly soon, too soon, and the majority will abuse it.

We will most likely get a resurgence in October or November, and then again in March. Assuming no vaccine of course

No apology from me, because there was no racism.
My issue is the conduct of the Chinese authorities, not the people (Chinese is a Nationality, not a race)
If the French had given the world Covid19, then, having found that Covid19 was killing their own people, they failed to notify the WHO for 14 days, and failed to be open about the virus, I'd boycott French goods.
Several MP's have publicly called on the Government to cancel the Huawei 5G contract in response to recent events.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said at a televised press conference on Thursday it can’t be “business as usual” with China once the pandemic is over. Racist?
I believe that if you label somebody a racist you should explain it in a little more depth.

And there we have it, the PC culture we live in has resulted to people pointing and saying 'racist' to anyone who doesn't have an identical opinion as them (humor or otherwise!) as a way of shutting them down. I posted a light hearted picture referencing the commonly held belief that the quality of products from China are sometimes of an an inferior quality and now I'm a racist. :slow rofl:

Guessing you don't find this funny either?

I think a post COVID world is 2 or 3 years away yet, as mentioned further back, there’s likely to be a 2nd wave by the autumn that will spread into the winter, which could result in an even longer lockdown. Over70s may be stuck in their houses for a year if they want to survive. Even if a successful vaccine is found tomorrow, imagine how long it will take for hundreds of millions of doses to be manufactured and then administered. As a result of the success of lockdown, only a tiny proportion of the uk has had it, so there’s huge potential for a major spread if people return to normal behaviour.

We're creatures of habit..... Everything will return to normal...

Remember how things were after Covid-1 to Covid-18....

It may take 12-18 months, but everything that was classed as 'normal' last year will return... Too much to lose by too many people for it to be any different... Rightly or wrongly... and history says humanity doesn't learn from its mistakes.

Interesting thread
But I believe we all have our beliefs and should be able to put them across in our own ways
We have to do it in a proper manner with all the facts as we see them, if some one sees it in a different light there’s nothing wrong with that but let them have there say
Then we all can make an educated decision for our selves
Wrong or write

I'm hoping that many of the people working from home can continue to do so post C-19. Congestion reduced, pollution reduced and traffic accidents reduced. That's a positive outcome in my book. It's been a bit of a culture shock for a lot of people but I think a better work/life balance is being enjoyed. I'm certainly enjoying having my wife home all day. (well, most days!)
With regards to personal spacing, I think that will continue until the virus is either eradicated or a vaccine found. My personal space used to be about an arms length but it's now extended to around 20 metres. I don't even like passing people on the opposite side of the road! I know that's a bit irrational but I seem to have developed a heightened sense of self preservation over these past few weeks.

Interesting post.
in my opinion it will take many years, if ever until things go back to exactly the same as pre-virus. I would include things like air travel in this. However day to day things might be a lot faster, maybe too fast.
I would like to think that people and governments will try to look after the world more, for example electric cars. We are already behind places like China, where in areas there are already roads that will recharge cars as they drive. But I also believe that the economic impact of the current situation could prevent things like this happening as fast.

i have a real fear for a lot of our pubs as they were already struggling and I think it may be a long time before people are willing to put themselves in places like this by then it could be too late.

my belief is in some ways our lives will never be the same again. How different depends on factors still not known. For example will you be immune if you have recovered from the virus, permanently or short term? Will a vaccination be developed? If the answer to these is only for a short time and no then the future may be very different.
I'm not picking a fight with you just going to make a point about electric cars.
Everything needed to make an electric car ......ie all materials and battery are mined. Electric cars may not pollute as much in their 10 year lifespan of their battery but the cost of mining the resources and making them all use mostly fossil fuels makes them a false economy in my opinion.
I watched a good documentary the other day on 'you tube' called Planet of the Humans. If your not clued up on fossil fuels and green energy like Im not its well worth a watch. Will open your eyes to how most of us are being duped. ( if the documentary is an honest guide that is )

Maybe we should see what we can scavenge from the moon? Can you imagine what might happen if we start digging chunks out of that bugger?
