Internal or External Front Screen Cover - Insulated Or Not

External Polar Screens from Minster in Sheffield - with magnets to hold side screens tight to the doors, and fabric ties for the door handles.

Maybe a daft question, but what stops someone just swiping one of these external screens?

Not a daft question - very easy to nick if someone is that way inclined but, as above, the way they loop over the doors would mean seriously damaging them to get off. The way I look at it is that with all the stuff we typically have lying around when camping the screens are the least of my worries.

Hopefully this is not a daft question either, so I bought internal screens and after choosing the T6 and sending measurements they still don't fit. Rubbish.
But since then I've been advised to get externals. How do they stop condensation? And do they need to be insulated? What's the pack volume like and how are they when wet and you have to leave?
Then, finally, what happens if you used both? Internal and external?

Those are quite good questions in my mind. I dont have any answers though.

Not a daft question. We have insulated wrap around screen from Rainbow and, together with ventilation (we leave the front windows down an inch), we get zero condensation on the covered windows. They are made to measure the T6 and come in their own bag which they roll up into and this helps to contains the moisture if you have to put away wet.

No need to double up with internals as well - I think where people carry both is to give flexibility such as stealth camping when you wouldn’t want the screens so obvious and/or may need to move off quickly without getting out.

We have bought a dry bag to put the end of the carry bag in if the cover has gone away wet to keep the floor dry. The insulation will keep the condensation away.

Hi All,
After a few months of work, the Caravelle is now road legal and to mark the occasion, we’re taking the kids camping for a few days during the Easter hols. The kids will sleep in the van and only just realised I’ll need to get a blind of some description for the windscreen and two front doors.
Here’s the dilemma...should I get an insulated cover rather than the one I’ve seen here https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07D8S8NV5/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_api_i_MIGOCb2EH5H92

I’ve been searching the forum and seen various recommendations from Van Shades, Rainbow Screens and others.
Question is, should I get an insulated version with the weather still not so warm and if so where can I get one before weekend and which one would you suggest?
Was initially thinking black as the vans Deep Pearl Black with black tints.

Cheers

Insulated help reduce condensation massively but not sure about getting before the weekend. Rainbow screens was about 6 wks lead time but they may hold stock of frequently sold versions of screen covers. Worth a phonecall.

The other advantage of insulated screens is that they are a lot thicker and heavier meaning they don’t flap around in the wind like thinner ones (we started out with a cheap one and switched to Rainbow after the first couple of uses).

We bought a black Vanshades screen last year, have used it in winter conditions stops condensation and also the need to use internal curtains on windscreen.
