MFSW - Golf GTd MkVII + DSG Paddles -- How I Done It --

Thanks

from what I've found out is Steering wheel connector I run cables from pin 9 & pin 10
These then connect to the light switch 12 volt and the BCM pin 17 or pin 36

then I just need to find someone to code it
Sounds about right. Pin 17/36 is dependant upon whether you have euro 5 or euro 6 engine iirc.

Wiring diagrams are here

Hi Deaky,
I thought I’d pick on you as you’re reasonably local & are far more knowledgable than me!!
I am ready to pull the trigger on a gte steering wheel for my 2019 T6 204 dsg…. I’m completely at a lost as to what works & what doesn’t after trawling through this lot!
This is the wheel I have
2nd pic is the wheel I want
Can you or any other clever soul out there tell me if it’ll be simple enough to swap or is it far more complicated than that??
Sorry to butt in…. Please excuse my ignorance
Many thanks in advance

That wheel won’t work. You don’t have ACC and the new wheel does.

Can’t he just swap the button set and loom over from the old wheel?

Edit - no of course not, only from his old wheel to a flat bottom Polo wheel.

That’s brilliant!!!
It‘s the first straight answer I’ve had all day!!
So what wheel would I need (same style) to be able to swap over with everything working?
I was so close to wasting £500!!

You could use a flat bottom polo wheel and keep your existing yoke and buttons but you’d have to change the airbag. I think a Passat wheel has the same airbag so you could use one of those. I’m not sure on the GTI wheels, if it’s got a mode button instead of CNL it definitely won’t work

I just bought a flat bottom steering wheel from T5Upgrades I’ve just fitted it and connected the wires to the steering column I just need to connect one wire to the bcm hopefully everything works. The wheel I got doesn’t have cruise control on the buttons but I do have cruise control on the stalk. The air bag is ok with no errors once cleared. I also just coded it using OBDeleven and it accepted the code and easy to do

Thanks for all your help guys…… there is the odd one out there without acc but they seem very few & far between
I’ll check out the polo route for now
Much appreciated

unfortunately, I have cruise on the wheel ….. nothing is bloody straight forward owning a VW is it

The Passat flat bottom wheel has the three round clips for the heart shaped airbag, not like the two on the T6 airbag, that was one of my early mistakes.

Power is usually taken from the switched live behind the light switch
Ready to connect the cable to the bcm pin 17 do I have to take the connector apart to find pin 17 or can find out what colar the cable is and just connect from there

Have a look at the MFSW wiring diagrams in the downloads section. You’ll get the cable colour from there

Ok just to throw my tuppence in to this great thread, has anyone put paddles on a T6.1 dsg yet (yes it does have acc)? Just got back from a trip accross from essex to Pembrokeshire and found myself flicking the invisible paddles. I had them on my previous range rover and used them regularly. I tried using manual shift on the stick but was a waste of time. Now my hands feel like something is missing. I guess its like a smoker that has to chew a pencil to replace the cigarette. I would like to add paddles but as my van is still warranted, I do not want to jeopardise it. Any thoughts please? Thanks.

J519 is the BCM, T73b/17 is pin 17 in the white plug. Wire is green/blue

Hi. I actually put a retrofit wheel with paddle shift on mine 2020 T6.1 multivan Highline, but it is not working. It had all thing ready on the wheel and it was plug and play, but paddles not responding, I'm waiting here to read that someone has found a solution/ coding for it..

Totally stuck mfsw all wiring connected
Steering wheel connector wires added to pin 9 & 10 connected to the blue/green cable on the bcm and 12 volt from the light switch.

Nothing working on the wheel would of thought the buttons would of at least illuminated though the light switch

Van is a euro 6 so bcm connection is correct

Any help anyone getting to the point of refitting my old wheel and selling the new one (wheel was bought from t5upgrades so I know it fits
