Thanks, I have read through and got the details. Just a thought, the white lights you have on your wheel could be changed easily but not 100% sure of outcome yet. Back in the day on our mopeds we used to paint the bulbs with nail varnish to change the colour!! Just a thought. I will give it a go when I get my wheel working

Hi Dellmassive
was your van a start line ? Did you ch anything else to get the wheel to work. I spoke to the company mentioned in your thread and they said that the mk7 golf wheel won’t work on a T6 ???

my van is a OEM 2018 Sportline

this is the MFSW supplied with the van from factory.

to get the golf Mk7 wheel (buttons) to work i had to send it off to the place @Insert Coin found to get them to do the electronics wizardry to remove and replace the chips from the original wheel buttons into the MK7 buttons. . .

thats so the buttons will comunicate with the van etc.

the flappy paddles would work ok,

and i think the horn worked ok.

++++++++++++

but as above a standard Golk Mk7 will not work on a T6,

you need to send it off to be worked on. . . .

there are now a few places that offer a swap service, or send yours in to be modified etc etc .

I've seen a few dotted around Facebook etc . . . .

normally the places that do the LED colour changes / reworks as you need the proper solder hotair station and some serious skillz working with those tiny components.

Ok, do you still have the casing from the original switches? I’m trying to find a T6 set

No not any more.

You will be able to get a T6 mfsw on eBay etc.

There maybe other members that have pics of the buttons?

Ok just to throw my tuppence in to this great thread, has anyone put paddles on a T6.1 dsg yet (yes it does have acc)? Just got back from a trip accross from essex to Pembrokeshire and found myself flicking the invisible paddles. I had them on my previous range rover and used them regularly. I tried using manual shift on the stick but was a waste of time. Now my hands feel like something is missing. I guess its like a smoker that has to chew a pencil to replace the cigarette. I would like to add paddles but as my van is still warranted, I do not want to jeopardise it. Any thoughts please? Thanks.

Yes I fitted paddles to my 6.1

Does anyone know if these buttons will need coding? They are the same layout as my T6 but I’m putting in a golf MK7 wheel. These are off Ali express.

***************************

E441 RHS Multifunction buttons on right in steering wheel connects to > E440 Multifunction buttons on left in steering wheel (via ribbon cable)

E440 LHS buttons are on J453 Multifunction steering wheel control unit.
J453 connects (via LIN bus T5u/3 0.35mm purple/white)via the F350 slip ring to the BCM (J519)
J453 connects (T5u/5 0.35mm grey) via the F350 slip ring to the (J623) Engine control unit
12v power (T5u/2 0.35mm white) via > SC32 Fuse 32 on fuse holder C to (F350 to J453)
0v ground (T5u/1 0.35mm Brown)(Earth connection, in airbag wiring harness )via > F350 > Earth point, onboard supply control unit
Horn plate feed to J453 (T5u/1 0.35mm blue/white)
Horn plate ground (T5u/1 0.35mm Brown)(Earth connection, in airbag wiring harness )

so there should be 6x wires at the yellow connector, 2x for Airbag and 4x for power and data)

no illumination feed from what i can see, so the switch modules must get the illumination PVM via the LIN Bus.

So the CC buttons effectivly talk to the ECU

and

the RHS buttons talk to the BCM via LIN bus for the MFD, phone, radio buttons.

these are readout from INSTRUMENTS.

Hello mate,

I know this post is old.

So did you have to swap the original airbag loom over from the T6 and then does that connect into the golf mk 7 airbag?
